I have been to egypt now 5 times in the last year!!. never have i felt at danger and i really wouldn't worry. the security in egypt is not a problem as all hotels have security gates and guards as you enter the hotels! i have stayed in nuweiba in april and june this year which is just down the road and although there is not much to do outside the hotel the beaches are great! i believe that the holiday inn is a new hotel!! all the hotels are lovely and the staff wil really take care of you!! it will be hot in august around 35-40! i will be in taba at the end of august so hopefully it will be bearable!! when do you fly out!1
if you want any other info just ask!!
i am sure a certain swiss will come to your rescue about the hotel itself!!
boozeyboo
did loads of travel as a teen, greek isles via magic bus and kibbutz for a short time so not afraid for me but for the little one.
we are flying from manchester with astraeus and are really excited.
dave,my husband got his padi cert (open water) in grancanaria last year so he is really excited....so glad u replied toni
i note that there is no review about the hotel we are going to.....has no-one at all been there...ive heard it is miles from anywhere. i know there are trips etc(going with peltours and they have been really helpful) but is it safe and easy enough to get a taxi into somewhere like nuweiba. what are taxi prices like? we dont go a bundle on nightlife thinking more of shopping trip in daytime
anything else you want to know just ask
i believe the hotel you are going to is newly opened so there hasn't been any guest i could be wrong but i believe it is opening in july!! i know talking to a longwood rep she was going to be covering that hotel when it opened!! i have heard that it is going to be very good though!!
We visited a few hotels along this coast line. The new Holiday Inn is not actually in Taba, its en route to Nuweiba and therefore not near to shops or a town. I would imagine it will be very much resort based.
I guess I and a hundred others are all Coral Hilton Fans, but with a four year old..I would say it would be an absolute must. If you cannot find any further info on the hotel, and are in any doubt, then do consider asking the agent if you could change without paying an extra charge apart from initial costs. The other alternative is when you get there, if you dont like it, see the rep and move to the Coral. I would imagine Katie is also rep for this hotel when it opens as its so near the Coral. We just found that although some of the other hotels were lovely, some palatial, none could remotely compare to the special magic the coral has. Check out their thread...some of those regulars to the Coral may well know more about this Holiday Inn than I do. Longwood have no problems in transferring you to other hotels if you are not happy.
No matter what..its a gorgeous coast and lovely sunshine!
Hope you have a good time!
I believe The Holiday Inn, Taba, has been open (ish) for a few months now. It received some dire reviews earlier in the year on the Holiday Watchdog site. This appeared to be due to the fact that they took in guests before the place was fully finished, which was suicidal! Maybe it's all ok now but I can't see any up to date reviews anywhere either.
Mind you, I agree with everything Sunlover says about The Coral Hilton, it is a true oasis of everything thats good about a holiday!
Regards,
Roger.
Actually opened last Summer but never properly completed. I went round it taking pics a few months which I sent off to someone either on this forum or VT. Only problem is I can t remember who !
Found it... do you want me to send you a copy of the email - with pics ?

please though keep the information coming
Hi Taffy can you please not post in phone text ie cos thanks Briar
sorry its a bad habit. while im here i have got loads of questions the first being has anyone got a map of the distance between taba and nuweiba i believe that the holiday inn is situated at a place called wadi malha. i have looked at some sites but cannot find a more detailed one.
However when I got back home and looked for the hotel online I was shocked by just how little information I could get, and all of it was bad! 2/10 and 3/10 scores I am now seriously doubting if I am going to enjoy the holiday at all. Most reports I can find say the hotel has only ever had about 50 people maximum in there, and things just arent ready.
I am now wishing we had only booked one week! I have a horrible feeling that by the start of the second week we will be seriously wanting to come home.
However I am also hoping that whilst the minority who dont enjoy their holiday are quick to criticise things, the vast majority who enjoyed themselves stay silent and things wont turn out too bad.
I do have a question though. As there is not much entertainment going on in this hotel in the evening, is it possible to either walk or take a taxi to other hotels for an evening? Obviously it rather defeats the object of staying in an all inclusive hotel if you then go somewhere else and have to start paying for things, but it might be nice for a change every now and then.
The Holiday Inn is not the best resort in Egypt that is for sure. Its also in a very remote setting.
However, it is one of the cheapest on the market at the moment ( I saw on the internet that Thomsons had slashed the price for certain weeks down to 259 quid for one week all inclusive !!! ) and thus pretty good value for money. The rooms are more than adequate, the views fantastic and if you just want to switch off and unwind then it will be ideal.
If on the other hand you need to be in a large busy resort with lots of evening activities then best head for the Naama area of Sharm.
http://www.winniesworld.co.uk if you have not already done so as there are some wonderful pictures on there thanks to princess daisy and her family. i feel so much happier now about going as a result of all the knowledge flying around this site.
hi also swisssinai, do you happen to know which is the nearest dive school to the holiday inn?
hi fullmoonsoup, try hi also swisssinai, do you happen to know which is the nearest dive school to the holiday inn?
The closest ones would be the four in Nuweiba. Three small ones and the famous, well established emperor divers ....
Still a bit concerned by just how few people are there though! Nice to have virtually your own private hotel, but just might induce stir craziness1 Hopefully, with the hotel now in its first full year there will be more people there this summer.
We are going from the 4th to the 18th of , so when you get there look out for us. Look out for the bloke who looks like Tintin with the little quiff ontop of the short hair, and the dark haired wife! We will more than likely be sat playing cards having hopefully roped in a few more to get a good game of poker going in the evening lol
you certainly wont miss us with a crazy 4 year old !!!we arrive evening of the 15th about seven i think..i have since checked the peltours site where we booked and there is no availability left for the weeks we booked so that sounds a bit more promising. it will be great to talk to you ...give us all your tips on the place..
happy holidaying !!!!
