We are 2 adults and 2 kids and went to Cleo Park (£80), did the Red Sea Cruise (£120) and Sinai by Starlight (£120).
Cleo Park was disappointing. It's a new, small and perfectly formed water park with no queues. Our problem was that the rides weren't big enough. It doesn't compare to the parks in Spain we've been to, but would be fine for families with younger kids. (Ours are 11 and 10). It was still a nice day out though, and the Animation Team are great fun. One tip - you can't take any food or drink in (not even water). You are searched on the way in and your bag goes through a metal detector.
The Red Sea Cruise was a day on a boat with 3 stops for snorkelling. You get lunch and unlimited free soft drinks, plus the hire of snorkels and flippers was free. It was a fantastic day out and you get to see some wonderful fish amongst the coral. Just beware the photographer when you get on the boat. He takes your picture and you think you'll get to see it before deciding whether to buy it at the end. However, he met us with 2 photos, a CD and a plate with our picture on, demanding 100 EGP. We didn't mind paying it, but others didn't want to and the guy got quite shirty insisting they had to. Just make sure you know what the bloke is offering before he takes your picture.
Sinai by Starlight was amazing. We were bussed out into the desert where we rode camels up to a Bedouin camp. The kids with the camels demanded money when we got off, and even though our guide told us we didn't have to pay them, we gave them 10 EGP each. They weren't impressed and asked for more but we walked away. At the camp, you get Bedouin tea and a Shisha pipe plus soft drinks. If they time it right you get to see the sun set behind the mountains. The kids had a go at making bread, and that formed part of dinner. Then it was dancing round the camp fire while they set their stalls out to sell souvenirs. Finally, it was out into the desert to learn how they use the stars. There were 3 GPS telescopes and we got to see several stars plus the moon. They'll also use your camera to get a picture of the moon for you.
We booked all 3 trips through First Choice at the hotel and they all included coach transfers and a guide. You could probably do them cheaper but we preferred the security of dealing with the reps at the hotel. This was particularly helpful when we had to change the date of one due to illness.
Hope this helps

cleo park dont sound to good then being as mine are nearly 18 ,13,7 the boat trip sounds good tho will look into that thanks
There are other water parks, but we chose Cleo Park as it was the excursion offered by First Choice. I'd look at the others if I went there again.

hb ok will look into it not long now ......................
Hiya, we are returning for the third time in October, love this Hotel. Could anyone tell me if there is still a swap table outside the reps room in the main complex. This was very handy for buts and bobs and books last year.
Yes, the swap table is still there. Very useful for kids' sun cream on our last couple of days!
Hi, I am travelling to Red Sea Holiday Village on 21/9/10 with my husband and our 2 and hlaf year old twins for our honeymoon. We have booked a standard room which first choice assure me is large enough for all 4 of us. As I am travelling with little one's I have a few general concerns.....Is bottled water provided in the rooms? if so is it free of charge? Do the rooms have kettles? Is a standard room big enough for all 4 of us? I have been told that there is a mini market on site. Does it sell Whole ( full fat ) long life milk? my kids still like a bott le before bed!!! Do they sell nappies???? Just in case we run out. Would appreciate any feed back. Many Thanks Lisa
The standard family rooms are huge, with plenty of room for 4. You do get free bottled water every day, the cleaner leaves it. We tipped ours on the first day and he always left us 5 bottles instead of 4. You can always ask him for more, or fill the bottles up at any of the bars or restaurants.
No kettles in standard rooms - I think you'd need to upgrade to a Select room to get one.
The shop is more of a souvenir shop than a mini-market, but it does sell soft drinks, crisps, sweets, cigs and some toiletries. I don't remember seeing milk or nappies, but there is a 24/7 supermarket just outside the Hotel's main entrance (turn left) that sells all sorts.
Hope this helps

Thank you Harry! That has helped loads. will take enough milk to last a c ouple of days and then hit the supermarket.
It's worth asking your cleaner to empty the mini-bar so that you can use it as a fridge for your milk and water

Thats a great idea!!! I will do that. Thanks
Forgot to ask about spending money!!! Travelling with Hubby and 2 small children. We will not be doing any excursions as the children are too small, might eat out once or twice but that's it? Is is expensiv out there? Any idea's on spending money??? for in the hotel?
We went for a week and spend about £400 pounds 2 adults and 2 teens (excluding diving, once you start to dive costs change), that did include a couple of treatments in the spa - a massage and a manicure from what I can remember and going across the road for a walk of an evening and popping in places like Starbucks for a coffee. We also ate at the seafood restaurant on the beach twice which incurs a supplement and we ate at cost in a restaurant in the Laguna Vista hotel next door one evening - you dont need to do any of these things though. We are not big drinkers though and were quite happy with the drinks we could get on the AI.
We've just booked for christmas and new year again good time last year but for anyone travelling with with kids i would try an upgrade to a junior suite lots more room and it has a bath for the little ones
I really like the look of this holiday villiage for next year but as there are so many of us we will need interconnecting rooms, can anyone tell me which type of rooms are interconnecting? Also has anyone been to this one and turkey? would like to know which one poeple think is the best! Thankyou
The Select rooms are interconnecting, not sure what other rooms are...
We loved it & so did our kids who are 18, 16 & 8. So a mixed age group & loads to do for everyone - adults included.....
Roll on 28 sleeps
Thanks for your reply, we will be going with a 12, 10, 8 and 18 month old! We were wondering what the food would be like and what there would be to do for a toddler? Hope you have a lovely holiday
Kids pool with water features, kids clubs - many times a day. Family activities in complex & on the beach. There will also be loads of other kids around the poolside to play with. My daughter has NEVER been bored/lonely at any of the HV.
Food wise - much the same as any other resort. Often there were theme nights, omlettes, pizzas, meat dishes, fish dishes - loads. There is also a designated kids food area with the usual nuggets/pasta/chips etc...
Can't fault the place & totally recommend it to anyone...
You will love it.
Travelling on 21/9 with hubby and our 2 and ahlaf year old twins. I know there is a childrens pool and a play area.
