Would like to just add that we went to Churchills one Evening for a fry up which is just down the road from H.V
Dont go there-we had 3 English brekkies one sausage and chips and 3 kids hotdogs and chips,3 pineapple juices and a coke and it came to £65 english pounds, they add a 12% charge onto your bill!! some might not think this is too bad,but we thought for what we had and the size of the portions that it was a complete rip off-we were gutted that we didnt just eat in the hotel that night!!
It was just fortunate that we had half of the £460 english pounds that our friends won on the magic number game at the hotel!!!
Ive paid £1300 for me and my 8 year old daughter to go to the HV in a swim up room in October and im seriously considering cancelling due to the reviews getting worse and worse. Im off to Bulgaria in 3 weeks time, half board staying in a fantastic reviewed hotel and has only cost me £700 for the week. Im truly concerned about spending so much money on a holiday that could in turn be a complete nightmare.
This will be our first time to egypt - staying at the HV and having a Nile cruise. We usually go to Goa and am hoping we have built up some immunity to upset tums. What do you recommend as a seasoned visitor?
Also if people are eating places like McDs - how do you know it wasnt there that you picked up the bug?
Regards
Jo
I think it is a shame that people get a bad tummy and straight away point the finger at the hotel.
All 4 of us returned from HV, none of us suffered with a bad tummy!!, the food was great lots of choice ie chicken in sauces, pasta made with what ever you want, pizza, roast beef, rice which I loved, lasagne etc.I can't believe this is the same hotel.
We were very sensible whilst there, took Acdiphilous tablets 2 weeks before we went and whilst we were there. Very careful with what we ate.
It's a well know fact that you may get a dodgy tummy in Egypt, some people we knew stayed at a hotel in Naama Bay and both the parents had bad tummies.
We can't wait to go back and if you look at the reviews on Holiday truths out of the last 15 reviews 11 were fantastic, 2 were average and 2 were bad, so that says it all.

Well i am still looking forward to my time at the holiday village in 4 weeks, i have been fully vacinated and read all the advice on the stomach bug, i.e loads of water, not immodiom, and really am focusing on the good reviews, i have friends who came back from Sharm, last month they didn't stay in the HV and they was still badly with pharoahs curse, so i'm 99.9% sure it is just not hotel, more to do with climate and different food etc.... and as i said, out of the hundreds of people there each week the odd bad review is not a big deal, it is all personal choice.
Just returned this morning, yes we had the odd tummy trouble. But not food poisoning. Too much sun and not enough fluid. Great hotel, very freindly staff, food was great. Pools checked throughout the day and cleaned well into the night. No ear problems got to be a first for my daughter. Glasses at pool bar washed in a dishwasher not with with ash trays as previously mentioned in another thread. Ashtrays great big clay pots anyway. Evening entertainment area could be a lot better and I could be better but hopefully they will sort this out. Entertainment itself very good something for all ages.
I am a very, very fussy eater! The food was definately not slop when we were there. As I have said in other posts I got the upset stomach and cramps . My husband and daughter ate the same as me and were fine.
I spoke to a lot of people while there (husband says I'll talk to anyone!) and not one person said they weren't having a good time.
Cheers for that jay, cannot beat a cuppa in the morning, i will pack my tea bags , i'm sure that the food won't be slop there would be uproar if it was, i'm also a fussy eater but i always find something, i have read a couple of reviews where people have been saying how great the food is
I was there from November 29th for 2 weeks so it was a totally different hotel to the one I am reading about now!
Ask for block 6 as its lovely.
Hi Jay, was the Seabass in the buffet restaurant? i love that with some rice. we really are going to make an effort and get into the extra restaurants, we never managed to get booked in them at the HV in Turkey, i guess you must have to book as soon as yopu get there, also do you get a pass for each restaurant once for your whole visit or once a week?
I will ask for block six, I think I want to be on the top floor, are they 2 or 3 floors high? it gets your more privacy. I think I read further back that you can email the hotel 2 weeks before you go with your requests.
We go three weeks next Wednesday (17th July) - I e mailed the hotel yesterday with our request and received an e mail back within a couple of hours confirming the request and letting me know that we have been allocated the room asked for - thats service for you!
Regards
Jo
The Hargreaves:I think the seabass must of been the seafood restaurant on the beach, which we did not go to. This is the only restaurant that you have to pay for,but I think you only pay for the fish, everything else is included in the AI. The al a carte restaurants, you get a ticket per adult per week so you can go once a week. Its best to book it when you get there,we had no problem getting booked in. We thought the indian was the best.
thanks to everybody posting (whether good or bad ) on the holiday village. we go on the 7th aug and still keeping an open mind, but most reports are helpful. i am now expecting the tummy bug, only a question of how bad it will be. we have had our injections and the wife always takes her first aid box. there is no way now that i would cancel or transfer to another hotel. i am sure we will have a fab holiday no matter what.

Get your dessert as soon as you go to the main restaurant because when we were there our East European friends were taking the best of them back to their tables and leaving it.This may have been stopped now as the manager reads HT.
Block 6 has 2 floor with 4 rooms on each floor. The middle 2 rooms on the 2nd floor have childrens dens.
We were given 2 tickets for each of the 3 al-a-cartes and we just booked a couple of days before although now it may be a good idea to book as soon as you can.Everyone has their favourite and we swapped vouchers with other guests,as we werent bothered about going to the Indian again.
It's Africa (well technically Asia) not Majorca.
Not that long ago Egypt was considered an exotic destination for the more adventurous traveller.
If you want an all inclusive with restaurant quality food book Sandles, it will cost the same per person as you booked a holiday for four. There is a reason for this.....
On the plus side, the scuba is as good as anywhere in the world. The Aquarius guys are fantastic and taught my 10 year old through his open water. The weather is outstanding and the people are friendly (if you dont treat them like dirt).
Chill out, enjoy and don't go in the pool if you have had the runs
Just to say I had the sea bass in the main resteraunt several times and it was lovely also we definately had no problems with the rice as my daughter ate this most days as it is her favourite and she had no problems at all. You will all have a fab time as long as you drink plenty. and be very careful in that hot sun which will be even hotter in july and August, it is very strong.
I'm looking forward to the seabass already, on a wet day like this i just sit and dream of my hols, not long to go though, hubby moaning about the number of holiday reads that keep appearing , but all in all i am looking forward to what i hope will be an excellent holiday and hopefully in block six,

BRANDO LADY: Block 5 is in a great position. The email address is holidayvillage@coralsearesorts.com.
