holiday makers, beware, whent to marmaruis 17th june 2012 arrived at dalaman airport, only not to find that there was no rep to guid us to our transfer ,which was 3 hours .
arrived at hotel sun maris park hotel, at 3 30 am we where given a room that i wouldnt let a pig sleep in ,and this is ment to be a 4 star resort joke .Tired and thirsty, no where to get a drink , and this an all inclusive ,holiday yesaldalyan holidays 4 u .com .
the hotel was terrible when we left after 10 days you couldnt even see the bottom of the pool it was so dirty, the towels and linen were only changed every 2to 3 days fillfy sink.
we had to return early from holiday as my partner became very ill, no doctor at hotel just a nurse ,who refered everyone to the hospital, which is just a cash machine. spoke to rep to get an early flight home, the flight cost £244 from monach, the rep charged me £580. when i complained after return i was told that we where treated fairly. when,we reported it at the airport i was told this is what happens in turkey well i have been to turkey before and it is a beautiful country, its the bad companies that give it a bad name so beware of holidays 4 u .com.
has anyone else had any bad experiances from this company ?
thanks david .
Did you fill in a holiday complaint form from your tour company rep whilst in resort? This will have a bearing on how your case will be handled. Also did you take any photographs?
I understand that you might feel that a foreign hospital might be very quick to take your money before offering treatment. However, that's why it's important to take out health insurance before travelling abroad as you will be able to claim back the costs of treatment (and possibly the return flight costs in case of an abandon as in your case). I presume that you did take out medical insurance - it's important to follow the procedure laid down in the policy about phoning the emergency number as soon as something goes wrong and you will be needing them to intervene -ultimately to pay back your costs- and for them to instruct you how to proceed, and also to liaise with the hospital if necessary. Your policy might also have covered repatriation in case of serious illness, thus sparing you the cost of having to buy your own tickets as you had to do.
Incidentally, to other posters, please remember that the EHIC card only covers reciprocal health care in the EC country you are staying in, and not repatriation costs. You still need to purchase supplementary health cover ....
Apart from that if you were ill and there was no doctor at the hotel would the hotel not call you a doctor, or recommended a clinic, where you could use your holiday insurance?
As Alsacienne has said, your insurance should cover you for your medical bills if you have followed the correct procedure. They are unlikely to cover the cost of early flights home as most insurers will only do this if you can't get the treatment you need in the country you are in.
I wouldn't expect there to be a bar open at 3.30am unless it is an 24hr all inclusive property, neither would I expect bed linen to be changed more than every couple of days.
Did you ask the rep about changing hotels whilst you were staying there? Did you fill out a complaints form? It is not up to the holiday company to pay for your flights home if you choose to return early. That is either down to yourself, or your insurers, if they deemed it to be necessary.
I had a look around earlier Sunaddict and it's possibly this one:-

If it was booked through hotels4u they would be unlikely to have had a rep. They're only a bedbank. Perhaps the OP will come back and clarify?
Check your itinerary, did you book transfers?
Reps/transfer companies are not allowed inside the arrival area at Dalaman Airport so there should have been someone outside with your name on a board or whatever.
I have travelled many times from Dalaman Airport and it is a about a 90 minute transfer to Marmaris. Why did it take you so long? How did you get there in the end if there was nobody to meet you?
It is about standard to have linen changed every 2-3 days.
I have worked in travel for 8 years and know of only only hotel in my area that has an on site doctor and it is a 5 star mega deluxe. I would not expect to find a doctor at a 4 star in Turkey. Of course they will refer to the local hospital, in the EU you can visit the state hospitals for free with your EHIC card but in Turkey you have to pay. This is what you have travel insurance for.
Indeed, if you wanted to travel home early you would need to buy new flights. Charter travel tickets are not transferrable to another flight or person and would have said this on them.
In my resort I can charge as much as I please for return one way seats. If you could have got them cheaper with Monarch why did you buy from the rep?
Sorry your post is quite hard to read/understand. Perhaps you could tell us more?
Louby
However you should have been in touch with the holiday company and insisted on a hotel change.
It would probably have been cheaper for you to pay for a change of hotel rather than pay for new flights home. Did you fill in a complaints form whilst still on holiday? - as someone has already stated?
Also regards hospitals - The one time someone in our family needed hospital treatment, yes you do need to pay upfront but we were refunded this by our insurance company within 2 weeks of arriving home. We always take a CC with a large credit limit on it simply for this reason.
Looking at his first paragraph looks like "dalyan holidays 4u.com" ?? which I can't find.
I too suspect a OPW having a rant, because there are too many 'holes' in the tale. I wait to be corrected ...
http://www.hotels4u.com and the transfers would have been with Yesil Dalyan who hotels4u use?
Not easy to follow however I think possibly that it was booked via Post a Reply
