My daughter gets married next year. She liked the look of Nicholas Heights Boutique Hotel in Hisaronou. Looks as though its B&B but often hotels give you the option to upgrade to all inclusive.

O right will have a look at Hisaronou...thanks for that

We are going to Olu Deniz on our honeymoon next week. Like you we agonised about where to go...in our heads we went right around the world. We considered some of the Indian Ocean resorts which look stunning but I kept coming back to the idea that i wouldnt last 1 day lounging on a beach without getting truly bored. Like you we love Turkey and know that we wouldnt be disappointed plus it seemed appropriate to return to somewhere that is special to us.

Olu Deniz is beautiful but i would imagine that the trips might be same as you have done from Icemeler? Salikkent Gorge, Dalyan River, etc. Dolmus into Fethiye is great if you enjoy shopping though and some of the more authentic side of Turkish life. I dont know about the AI in the area as we always go B&B as we like eating out.

I have always fancied going to Side as it seems to have everything from beaches to ancient stuff. :)

Hi Laney,

Adam and Eve can b an option. Marmara Bodrum is truly splurge, if you go to Turkbuku in high summer you will witness only Turkish so called jet set! My advice would be to choose some real boutique hotels and if you do not mind all inclusive but be happy with B&B you may have better chances with more woow factors.

Happy travelling,

Murat

Hi Giff,
Thanks for the info on Olu Deniz I have heard that the beach is fantastic there and it is one of the things that lets Icmeler down because it is mainly shingle....I will have a look later at some of the 5* hotels or B&B's in Olu Deniz.

Hi Murat...thanks for your comments too. Can you just expand on what you mean by a 'turkish jet set' ?? do you mean there will only be Turkish holiday makers there? It does suprise me because it is so close to Bodrum & Gumbet and I thought the whole area was very popular with British tourists??
Also Adam & Eve is in Belek...what is Belek like? reading the forums I read that it is just a line of big hotels and the transport to the local town is a tractor & cart! lol

Thanks again for your help it's much appreciated.

Just had a quick look at Side...there seems to be lots of 5* hotels there.

Any advice on which one is the top hotel?

Hi Laney;
If you choose to be transported with tractors they would :-)

Regarding Belek; new golf resort with lots of big but mostly nice all inclusive hotels at the seaside. Nothing really exciting when you are out of your hotel other than walking along the pine trees. Making daily trips and visits to the near by sites ofcourse good options. Hotels usually have great facilities and good beaches, modern, comfortable. Expect lots of Russians, Germans as well as clientele. Golfres do like Belek with its new and fine golf courses.

Bodrum; Yes it used to be and still favorite town within British tourists. Turkbuku is more upgraded region with lots of beach clubs and hotels usually full of Turkish guests in July & august who want to see and bee seen....Nightlife is gross, so is the prices. There are few hotels serves travellers & foreigners with more international clientele as well.

A small definition of 5 star hotels in Turkey: 5 star hotels tourist class, Deluxe 5 Star Hotels, Luxurious 5 Star hotels and resort like 5 Star all inclusive hotels. Altough they are all 5 star service, amenities and quality will not all be the same.

Happy travelling,

Murat

Why not rent a beautiful villa, you will have loads of privacy, your own pool, no need to cook as lots of nice places to eat.

Sultans palas hotel
Dalyan resort
both in Dalyan
both look nice but not all inclusive.

Look at Nickolas heights sure they have special suite(Hisaronu)

Side all the nice hotels outside the resort, loads of trips to go on

The beach at Olu Deniz is mostly pebble too and it is not good for playing in the sea as the waves are quite strong and it shelves deeply almost immediately. Scares me to be honest. But there is the Lagoon just along with little sandy beaches.

I am sure whatever you decide you will have lovely time. :)

All of te hotels in belek are mainly 5 star all inclusive and have their own private beach they have everything you listed except they are a wee bit from watch shops ,ten minutes to Kadriye and Belek town, twenty miles from Antalya where you can get some great shopping and trips to really historic sites ,ancient city of Perge ,aspendos ..Rixos , Club voyage ,Cornelia deluxe all brilliant hotels for a honeymoon with everything you could want .

I would consider Lykia World at Olu Deniz, in the 'Residence' hotel part, not the 'village', preferably in a seaview room. The setting of this hotel is absolutely stunning. Whilst it is an excellent place for families, it is good for couples too. By September the children will be back at school. It has a good spa. It is fullboard plus drinks at meal times. The food is wonderful. There is a choice of three included restaurants. See http://www.lykiaworld.com All the big tour operators feature it.

Hi All,

Thanks so much for all your comments....they are really helping us understand the different areas and decide what to do for our honeymoon.

Having looked at many of the places you mention I think in terms of location we fancy going to either Side/Belek or Bodrum region staying somewhere such as Turbuku, Torba or Turgutreis.

Last night we saw a nice 5* AI in Torba called Rixos Hotel...which I assume is the same chain as the Rixos in Belek.

Also we still like the look of the hotels in Belek although there isn't a great deal to do outside the complex's.

What we were thinking of doing was spending 1week in Side or Belek....and then spending a week in Bodrum/Gumbet area....but we are not sure how we could organise the transfer and also if it will work out much more expensive to do 2 weeks in 2 different hotels.

Has anybody else done this kind of transfer before?

Cheers, Tom

I was looking at the Rixos at Torba recently and thought it looked very good, with excellent reviews.

I think to transfer between Side and Bodrum would be a horrendously long journey. Others will have a better idea, but I suspect at least 6 hours driving time and probably more! I should stick to the same area if you want to do a 2 centre! Not for nothing are the 3 holiday areas served by 3 airports. It is a very big country.

I have just thought of another suggestion, if you fancy a 2 centre. Anatolian Sky offer 2 centre packages, with I think 4 nights in Istanbul followed by 10 nights on the coast at places like Side/Belek. Does Istanbul appeal? They include an internal flight down from Istanbul.

Hi there,

Check this hotel out in Olu. Its called the Oyster Residences. Never been there myself but I am sure others will be able to comment. It does look elovely and is a bit special.

Hi Mehmet....to be honest I don't think the missus would fancy Istanbul as it's too near the border with all the problems going on. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Ruth - Had a quick look at Oyster Residences and it does look very nice!...will have a closer look later.

Hi,

I think you should look into Bodrum. There are many bays of Bodrum each of which is a seperate resort with very different characteristics so there is something for everybody here. You can visit a different one each day and have a great holiday! Also, I have to say that I know Bodrum very very well and I have to disagree with previous comments on how expensive Bodrum is. You are likely to get better quality food and entertainment in Bodrum than any other resort in Turkey and if you do choose to go to the most expensive restaurant or bar in Bodrum then yes the bill would reflect this but if we are talking about on average, Bodrum is actually cheaper than many other places.

I am a little confused over a comment that you made previously though,
Hi Mehmet....to be honest I don't think the missus would fancy Istanbul as it's too near the border with all the problems going on. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Which border and which problems do you mean? I live in Istanbul and I can assure you that there are no problems here, no more than anywhere else anyway.. You may of course not consider Istanbul as a possibility but it should really be for the right reasons I think...

Good luck with your planning.
