Hi, we're staying at the Paradise Club apartments which are just behind the marina, myself, husband and 2 children (3 & 7). I'll do my best to try and have one or two in each pub I find (children permitting!) and let you know!

We plan to hire a car this time so that we can see a bit more of the island, have been told there are lots of other lovely beaches to go to (but again that's children permitting) and that driving there is really easy.

Hopefully other members will be able to let you know a bit more about your hotel. Have you looked at the website http://www.menorca-net.co.uk ? They have a forum like this and lots of info on Menorca that you may find useful.

Kind Regard, Nic

Hi Sally, we have been going to Cala en Bosch every July for the last 9 years now. We even managed to sneak an extra 12 days in Sept/Oct last year as well. It depends what sort of bars/pubs you are looking for e.g Spanish bars or English bars. We tend to catch the bus into Ciutadella on a night as there are even more bars there and you already have your built in baby sitters so you wont have a problem with this. As Nic said, Cala en Bosch is ideal for all ages. The first time we went there we were just turned 40, and if you work it out we are now almost 50 (but trust me we are young at heart and can drink like gud uns). Any advice you would like i will try and answer.

Kind regards
Linsi

Linsi thanks. Wow you must really like the place to keep going back everyyear, thats a great recommendation. Have you any info on what our hotel is like? We are going AI but will look to eat out in the marina a few nights - where would you recommend. We like all food!

We're not really clubbers, just looking for a good night out really! No doubt we will have a few drinks in most places if we can. Just kind of want to know where to definitely avoid so as not to waste our money.

Hi Sally. I am not sure about the Hotel Cala en Bosch as we have stayed in the same apartment every time, up near the lighthouse, but the location, as Nic said, is fantastic. The eating places we tend to use round the marina are Las Tapas, La Fontana, The Chinese next door to the Fontana, for the set cheap menu (which is enough on top of a few!!!!!! drinks but i cant remember its name) and the other Chinese on the way out of the marina for the "eat as much as you like buffet" and also at Legends. In most of the restaurants you can also have just drinks. We tend to go to Las Tapas later in the evening as the bottles of wine are quite cheap there. (Mind you, we need the exchange rate to rise a bit). Don Carlos is also a nice place to have a drink and if you like a bit of music, The Shamrock bar (which is just up from the Flamingo bar (you cant miss it) was fantastic last year. If you want to walk up near the lighthouse then the Titanic Parc is great and does snacks, breakfasts and meals on a night. They have a swimming pool up there and you just need to buy one drink to use it all day long. There is also a ball pool for the little one and some little bicycles. The Big Apple, just passed the Titanic park stays open until quite late if you want a late night. I think about 4am (but i may be wrong).
You will also hear a lot about the Goody Goody park down the marine which is just for the children but i am not sure of the ages. Phew, anything else you need to know, just ask. Linsi

Sorry Sally but I have a quick question for Linsi: You say you went in July last year, was this during school hols? I'm only asking as I'm going in August and only having been in June before I'm a little concerned as to how busy it might be. I'd never pick this time of year through choice but guilt got the better of me and I couldn't bring myself to take my son out of school for 2 weeks.
Thanks, Nic
PS Were all the pubs you mentioned there 5 years ago? Think I must have walked round with my eyes closed!

Hi Sally, just remembered the place where we used to sit and have a drink. Sorry can't remember the name but maybe Linsi will know from my description. Towards the far side of the marina from your hotel there's an outdoor area with restaurant/pubs either side with a bandstand in the middle. Don't know if they'd still be there but a couple of guys used to sing each evening whilst you sat outdoors and the children would have a dance in the middle so you could have a drink but be close enough to keep an eye on them. My son was 2 when we went and he loved it so hopefully your babe will be at an age where they'll enjoy it.
It's nice that you have babysitters at hand - my parents came with us the last time we went but we've decided to brave it alone this year!

Hi Nic, the only time we have been during the school holidays was the very first year we went there. We go the first 2 weeks in July. There are children then also but its not too busy. We just love sitting and drinking and people watching. Most of the pubs were there 5 years ago, but the Shamrock wasnt. So yes, you must have walked round with your eyes shut (lol). The bandstand is still there with the 2 guys and the children still dance to their music. The Fontana restaurant is on one side and El Toro Negro on the other side. Also there is another steak house opened up now down the slope at the side of the Britannia pub. Any more info you need just ask.

Thanks for your reply linsi. It must have been all the wine I'd already drank with dinner that caused me to miss the bars!

Hi Iloveholidays, as I mentioned before your hotel is in a fab location next to the beach, we stayed in apartments next door and there always seemed to be plenty going on at the hotel. Have you been to Cala'n Bosch before? If you haven't, then I'm sure this will not be your only visit. I think once you've been you'll find it difficult to find somewhere that has it's combination of things to keep everyone happy, but with that it's not rowdy like some places. You'll love it! When are you going?

Hi. found this for you website http://www.hihotels.net there is a 'contact us' link. Also email address but not sure if up to date: res.bosch@hihotels.net. Remember though that the actual resort/hotel doesn't open until May so I assume that if you contact them now it'll just be a central reservations dept.
Hope this helps you, got the info from the website http://www.islas.co.uk which is a really informative site about the balearics.
You go a few weeks before me then, as I said before you'll love it I'm sure. A word of warning though if you like the beach, the beds and parasols are very expensive, about 20 eu for 2 I think, but then I think it's the same all over Menorca not just Cala'n Bosch.

Iloveholidays - you MUST come back on here and tell me what you thought of the hotel etc. We go in Sept so would love to hear your thoughts about it. I will have loads of questions by then I think.

Hi Sally
will definately let u know all about it start writing the questions down and i'll try and answer them when i get back its always nice to know other peoples views thats why its taken me so long to find a holiday this year cos i keep reading all the reviews of the hotels!!

One question definitely is - which side of the hotel is the best for views and getting the sun in the morning/or evening? I know one side looks out over the pool and the beach - what does the other side look out over? I think with having the wee one with us, it will be nice to put him for a snooze late afternoon in the room and sit on our balcony in the sun. So need to know which side gets the sun, and when.
