Hi! We have been to the hotel twice. Once in 1999 and again in 2002. We love the hotel, the staff are really friendly and our daughter loved the pool. Not sure about the Champayne at breakfast time though! Lol!
Would love to go back there again, but have booked to go to Costa Brava this year!!
Hope u have a good time there!!
Never been before but we are going this september for two weeks and are really looking forward to it.
We had our first family holiday there a few years back very nice
Hi, does anybody know what facilities are in the rooms, will I have to take my own kettle for my early morning cuppa. Do they have fridges as standard or to hire. Are the bathrooms modern and clean, and if anybody can reccommend the best rooms or floor to ask for I would be really grateful.
You will find that the construction of the hotel is not the familiar "brick box" shape, which lends itself to the rooms being of different shapes and sizes.
I had a second floor room overlooking the pool and La Pineda beach which I was more than happy with
Hope this helps.
ps a little tip -you will find, I think, that the hotel name is pronounced
"don-airy" with the "y" sounded - It might make an impression with the locals
I stayed here in may03 and im going back this may. The rooms as scoop said are quite a good size, they are very clean as is the bathroom(its modern black marble)
Last time i was there you could nt hire fridges for the rooms as the hotel did nt do this, but we managed by filling the sink with ice to keep our milk/pop/beer cool.
You will have to take a travel kettle with you, as the hotel is 1/2 board you are not provided with them in the rooms.
There is a tv in the rooms and also a phone.
Thanks for the replies folks, I now know to pack the kettle and powdered milk to enjoy the morning cuppa on the balcony. Also wondering if the hotel or surrounding area is any good for teenagers. We've been to Salou before and know what that is like, but never to Pineda. In salou we stayed at the golden avenida which is part of the same chain as the donnaire park, and we hope the accommodation is going to be of a similar standard to that.
hi my family and i (2 Adults 2 kids) went here last year for our 4th time . I have just found a web video on the thomson site that you could watch wich will give you a good idea of the room and hotel facilities.
Anyone know if they have the usually dress code for dinner here as with a lot of Thomson hotels as I have booked DIY for friends so don't have a brochure to check. Thanks Karen
Having not been to this hotel though I do not know if it is adhered to 100%. We've stayed at the Golden Avenida a couple of times, which is part of the same chain and that has the same dress code as the Donnaire and nobody seem to really bother if the fellows came in with shorts. I would pack a pair of jeans or long trousers just to make sure, don't bother with the black tie and jacket, as it seems to me just to be a relaxed family hotel.
Crommy thanks for the video tip, had a look. Seems to be a basic but clean hotel, with a good buffet. Just what we are after.
Thanks bellana
Thanks, thought it would be. Our family has been to both Playa and Taurus Park but I couldn't remember dress code. My husband usually wears dressy shorts like chinos at night with a short sleeved shirt and has never been stopped in any hotels with dress codes, but we do always take a few pair of long trousers just in case. Karen
we are thinking of booking here for next year does anyone know if any of the rooms have fridges in or if it is possible to hire one as we need it for medical reasons
Katherine
Here's a previous posting regarding this:
I have just returned from this Hotel and there is no fridges in the rooms and you cant hire them either.
Lou.
Haven chosen a Golden Hotel as we have stayed in one previously and were very happy.
I am now a little worried though about the swimming pool. From the pictures it looks a little small and DEEP! Just wondering how others have found it. As the hotel is on the beach, does the pool area tend to be less crowded?
Is the food good and does it have a good selection for children?
Does anyone have any advice as to what rooms are best to request in the hotel?
Any other suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I have stayed here twice and enjoyed it, my 3 boys loved it. The kids reps were brilliant. There was entertainment on every night also mini disco, bingo, silly games etc... there is some entertainment during the day too. If you have any phobias about snakes i would recommend you check with the hotel when snake man is on, he does a show with absolutely massive ones
Swimming pool is quite deep, it has a ramp at one end then gets deeper at the other, my youngest was 4 the last time we went and he managed with his arm bands no probs. It does however still get crowded.
The food is ok, not a great deal for kids (main meal wise) plenty of chips, desserts, yogurts and biscuits also fruit. Breakfast is pretty much the same as here, cereal, toast, cooked brekkie, croissants, fruits.
The bar serves snacks for lunch, good selection and reasonable prices.
I would say the best rooms would be the ones with a sea view or the ones with pool view.
The beach is great, we bought fishing rods from the shop beside the hotel and the kids spent hours catching things. Its clean too.
There is not much else to do in the resort, we mostly stuck to the hotel, there is a little place just around the corner, it has bowling alley, mini bowls, mini golf, table games if you fancy a change.
hope this helps

We are going to La Pineda on 13th June for two weeks. We went to Salou last year and had a great time.
We are staying at the Goldn Donaire Park Hotel, wondering if there's anyone else who might be there the same time?
going to donaire park hotel soon and will be out there for some of the world cup, does the bar have tv's in there would think it has but would like to check
there is a little place on the corner of the road that leads down to Donaire, that puts the footie on widescreen,
i cant remember the name of it but its literally a 1 min walk from hotel, it has mini golf and bowling, you cant miss it.
