Well your Highness, we have had 2 excellent holidays in this hotel and the first one was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, which we did in one of their luxury suites. I think you have made an excellent choice of hotel and don't forget to let reception know of your anniversary.
Hope you have a good memorable time,
Trev
Hi Trev Thanks for the reply letting me know what the hotel is like, i appreciate it. I am looking forward to it as it is my first wedding anniversary, some reviews i had read were a little on the negative side so it was nice to hear a positive one
Four of us, all pensioners aged about 45 (in the feeble mind its 45) One not too good on the pins.
Can anyone recommend, from personal experiance anything?
Thanks in advance

Hi well back from the Fortina this week and i had a great holiday. We were upgraded to one of the new tower rooms with an outdoor spa and a lovely bathroom as it was a special occasion. However the hotel as a general was a little disappointing as it is still being completed and there is dust and rubble about and still noise, that was ok because we were out all day every day. The hotels buffet restaurant was dirty and needs alot of tlc so we chose the other restaurants to eat at night and just ate there for breakfast. The lifts were either broke, kept getting stuck or the queues were massive due to Saga clients staying there so the requirements of lifts was doubled! The day staff on reception were not as helpful as they could have been and were rude at times but the night staff were nice! I wouldnt say it was a five star spa/ hotel or that the four star bit deserved its status as i have stayed in far better hotels of same categories. Saying this the room we stayed in was nice, the area was ok and we had some fabulous trips so although wouldnt stay at Fortina again would stay in Malta again!
Sorry you weren't too impressed. I have to say that it was some years now since we went to the Fortina, and it was really nice then.
We called in there in February while we were in Malta to see a friend Jerry, who always 'overwinters' at the Fortina, and I thought that for all they had done, we couldn't see much change to the public areas!
I know that the management do read these pages so they may take on board some of the comments you have made. However, I'm glad you enjoyed Malta and will return,

I am thinking of booking a weeks holiday at Hotel Fortina, Sliema in July 2005. Can anyone advise me as to building work being carried out nearby? Will it ruin the holiday?
Has anyone stayed at this spa resort? Thinkin of travelling there in February and would like to know more about it.
Stayed there a couple of times. Expensive but you certainly get what you've paid for. I have posted lots of comments about this hotel in the past ,as have others. Perhaps if you locate these comments - can the moderator help?- and there are literally hundreds of them, you can read what folks have said.
I'd certainly stay at the Fortina again, if I could afford to do so!

Hi I stayed there a couple of xmases ago. it was great. we had a superior room - on the top floor with a window as wide as the room (which was huge!) that opened right back folded to the walls - it was like a massive sliding / folding patio door. the weather for us was fab - get out of the breeze and could sun bathe. rooms were very clean, the bathroom enormous but the decor was looking a bit tired but this could well have been sorted by now. the spa was excellent - had several treatments - even my husband was smitten by the indian head massage and reflexology he had! good size indoor pool. food was SUPERB. Enjoy !
I went to malta 2 years ago and stayed at the primera hotel in bugibba and had a wonderfull time. I am going with my husband to fortina spa hotel in sliema from march 12th to march 19th in the 4 star all inclusive section....I have been reading the reviews on here regarding this hotel and now dont know what to expect...some very good reviews and some very bad reviews how do you know which to believe?

I think a lot of the bad reviews were generated because of the extensive building work that has taken place over the last few years. I don't know if they've finished yet but last time I was in Malta I could see some building work going on next to the Fortina where there are some apartments being built. I really don't know how this will affect the Fortina if at all.
We have used the Fortina a couple of times in the past and were very impressed on both occasions. Not cheap but well worth the outlay. Enjoy!

We were there at the end of March 2000, and in August 2001. However, I have been to Malta numerous times since but stayed at 'cheaper' though nevertheless good hotels. One of the reasons we decided not to stay at the Fortina was due to all the things I had read about building work on this forum. Believe me if I was after that special break in Malta now, I would certainly consider the Fortina.
I have several friends (who do not wish to write on this forum!), who stayed at the Fortina and enjoyed their visit even though some did endure the building work. Hope this helps,
Trev
