My husband and i had booked a double room at Hotel Hawaii and a single room for my mother two days before travelling we were informed my mother was being moved to Hotel Bergantin.
As she is 73yrs of age with walking disabilities we were totally outraged by this - she had to eat on her own for the two weeks and we spent a lot of time walking between the two hotels.
Hotel Hawaii has to realise that if someone books a certain hotel that is where they want to stay - not moved at the last moment and breaking up a family holiday.
Was it two seperate bookings ?
There were 11 in our party 2 adults, 2 children and parents and 2 adults 2 children and 1 parent. We arrived at 3.45am to be told that the hotel was overbooked and we had to go to the Neptuno. We were furious and tried demanding to see the manager but the receptionist told us the manager would be in next day and to come back to see him first thing. For an easy life and some much needed rest we decided to go over just for the one night to the Neptuno and sort it out next day (after all we had rang to see if they had rooms and they confirmed it). Went to the Neptuno and had the worst night ever. The hotel is opposite an 18-30 hotel and the noise went on all night people shouting goodbye along the pathway that intersected the hotel. The baths in all four of our rooms were disgusting, not only was the muck etched into the bath so there was no way to remove it, but they had been painted and the paint was chipping off and there is no way we could have bathed the kids init. All this time I was trying to contact the company who booked our rooms for us to find out why this was happening but it was Sunday by now and there are no managers about on a Sunday (or so I found !!!)
Went to the Hawaii and spoke to the manager who explained that not only did we have to go to the Neptuno, but we were to go there for a week, then repack our suitcases and come back to the Hawaii for a week. We were furious. My mam asked to move to a different room in the Neptuno but they said there were none available. The manager at HAwaii spoke to them and got our room moved and we spent the next night in the Neptuno in a much better room. He also said that our room booking company knew about this (which is another story I wont bore you with) We were upgraded to AI but you could not take any drinks from the bar back to the pool at the neptuno as there was no way we would have got round the cramped pool at the hawaii.
none of us wanted to unpack cause we knew we had to repack again. there were loads of leaflets asking to try the Miami Hotel in Es Cana (where we did not want to be but if it meant we could unpack our suitcase and stay then we would) After speaking to reception they said they had four lovely rooms which had been upgraded to sea view and all inclusive at the Miami. We asked 3 times are there definatley 4 rooms and she told us of course.she said we even have an "interconnecting" room for 2 of the families
Went on the 45 minute ride to Es Cana and arrived at the Miami at about 10pm. went to see the rooms - only 3 rooms one of the rooms is 5 bedded! imagine having to share your fortnights holiday which you worked hard all year for to have to share a room with your mother in law! eeeek!!! The room is a 1 bedded room with 3 beds in the bedroom and 2 beds in the living room. they class this as 2 rooms! this is our interconnecting room! i dont think so. we went to rececption and said they promised us 4 rooms. Again no managers work on a Sunday so we decided to get a nights sleep in the 3 rooms and speak to management tomorrow.
Managment told us that they told the Hawaii the room lay out and told them there were only 3 rooms. there was nothing they could do, they did not have another room available for another 4 days so we could either live with it or go back to the neptuno for 4 days then the hawaii for the rest. Me and my cousin and mam burst into tears and she eventually felt sorry for us and moved us from the 5 bedded room to two different rooms so the first four nights of our holiday we had four different hotel rooms.
We were not the only ones it happened to when we went to the hawaii, there were other couples turned away and put into the neptuno. I am glad in a way that we did not have to spend any nights in the neptuno. The reception area has an absolutely vile smell of raw sewage for some reason. The pool area is cramped and tiny and no where near enough for the number of guests at the hotel.
My advice would be if you are staying at this hotel, then dont bother and try and change it.
Sorry if I have went on too long about this. If you have any questions about either hotel please ask.
Isn't it ridiculous that in this day and age with all the technology we have that this sort of thing happens,a throw back to the 1970's
It's dreadful that companys can get away with treating people like this, it seems like once they have your money they just don't care.
Hi Kizzycat,
SEHRS tourist guide is looking into it and the last I spoke to him after he had been to the hotel to get our version of events, was to compile a letter to the company. I am going to contact him next week.
I will not let it drop!
That's a very sad story and I hope you got at least some enjoyment out of your time in Ibiza - I hope it wasn't your first time to the island as I would hate for this to be your first impression of an island I love to go back to year after year!
May I suggest you have a quick look at this thread, you may find some options there.
I don't think i would ever go back to Ibiza cause not only were the hotels and experience crap but the weather was crap too. It was only boiling hot on our last day!
Ibiza is one of the Med's premier holiday destinations without a doubt; it has some of the nicest beaches, towns, people, nightlife, restaurants and bars that you will find in the Mediterranean. On top of that it usually boasts some of the regions best weather.
I dont think Ibiza had much to offer. I found (what I saw of San Antonio Bay) to be grubby and not really the place I would want to take my kids and I found Es Cana to be ok but very very boring and once you had looked round the shops once or twice there was not much left to do.
It is all down to personal opinion as to what you expect to gain from your holiday before you leave. I had heard many good reveiws about Ibiza before I left and was disappointed and could not understnad what people were raving about, they obviously want different things out of a holiday.
Anyway I did not start this thread to argue over whether Ibiza is a good place or what it has to offer cause I simply do not care anymore as i have no plan on going back. I just wanted to warn people of the HOtel Hawaii so no one has to go with what we went through.
You live in Ibiza and you love it and find it offers loads of different things. I live in the Uk and I love it and it offers different things.
We got back from Ibiza 2 weeks ago and had the worst weather weve known in 10 visits to Ibiza - I guess it's just one of those years. It must be all the Balearics that have suffered not just Ibiza.
We are going on the 27th sep for 2 weeks, i hope the weather has improved by then.Ibiza wasn't my choice -it was my daughter's & she's not going now!! this holiday has been a nightmare before it's begun, just have to keep our fingers crossed

Our first day we got there it rained, next two were cloudy, then next day it rained, then next day was ok, following two days youwere lucky i fyou could see the sun through the clouds, the following week were very cloudy and the last day was scorching. typical.
Never really fancied San An, my cousins stayed there a few yrs ago and they hated it, they said it was dirty and full of beer monsters. We never saw any of that in Sta Eulalia last time.

The reason her room booking was different from ours was thomas cook seemed to have the single rooms at this hotel.
the contempt they have for people who book a holiday with them is beyond belief. some people take years to save money for a trip to ibiza only for it to be ruined by bad management.
i actually think that the hawaii has part ownership of the neptuno and overbooks on purpose to skim off extra money from a hotel that few british tour companies would touch.
we were genarally pleased with the neptuno but as was mentioned the bathrooms are in need of work, but the pool was excellent and much quieter than the hawaii.
i wouln't reccomend anyone on here books with the hawaii/miami group of hotels, but of course people that get the rooms they booked in the hawaii might differ with me. but when i book a hotel and pay for it i expect that booking to be honored.
When you buy a car you check out the specifics before hand, read up on it at bit, well most people do anyway - it always amazes me why when holidays cost as much as they do as well as taking up valuable holiday leave, why people don't apply the same attitude.
Saying that, I'm sorry you had a bad experience on Ibiza.
Do you think that I would be so stupid as to waste not only mine and but the other three families money in the party by just picking blind out of the brochure. we ressearched until our eyes hurt and asked questions ON THIS SITE!!!! and got information about the hotel. that is the reason we knew the hotel was overbooking clients so we rang to make sure they definatly had our booking and was told we would be definately staying at the hotel hawaii!!
This sentence that you wrote:
kizzycat, the best idea when booking a holiday is too do a bit of research before hand. If you had asked on here and read hotel and resort views prior to going on holiday it is likely that you would not have been recommended either Es Cana or San An as they are both very different from what the rest of the island has to offer amd sound like they were completly the wrong choice for you.
well i just want to sit here and scream at you for sounding so condescending!!!! After the stress that we went through on our holidays I write a report to warn others of the horrendous time we had so that other people who had booked there holiday did not suffer the same fate, not to be met with answers like: you should have done your research!, Ibiza cant be blamed for the weather! You just did not get it! I was merely saying that the weather just summed up the epitamy of the holiday! I am not posting any more about Ibiza as I am just so made about the holiday and now i feel like i have to justify how i choose a holiday! The responses I expected were from people who had experienced the same thing, or people wanting advice or names of people to contact which we found out while we were there. Or maybe from someone whom we saved from experiencing what we did. That is all I have to say in the matter.
Beautifully put Kizzycat.
