Agree with suebf. If the pool is a big part of your holiday, in the July I went it was very busy so the Dragonnara might not be the best place for you. The only place you could get beds was the lido out to the sea (I also didn't want to bribe people for something I felt I had already paid for!!!). It was more peaceful there than round the pools. Sounds like it was worse in August.

From what I could see most of the hotels in the St Julians area had lidos which were like rocky platforms with steps from which you went straight into the very clear sea. I think there may be a few beaches on the north of the Island.
