You can still fly to sharm but i believe the coral will collect you and its about an hour and a half transfer.

Sorry Lyn, but the Hilton Coral haven't got a free pick-up service. All the times we've been there we've never been offered one. :(
They can organize Solimans to pick you up at the airports, but you'll have to pay for it.

Solimans .thats it :D .I knew there was someone that would pick You up. do you know how much it is Everest as i would like to know for myself as thinking of booking the coral for next year :D Is an hour and a half about right or am I way off.

It all depends how many are in the car I think. You'll be looking at around £50-ish for two of you. We did it in about 1hr 45mins, but we did stop a couple of times on the way for a little while.

What you could do is email Nour at the hotel a couple of weeks before you go (giving details of flight), he will sort it with Solimans and confirm the price.

hmmm maybe quite expensive then for 5 of us then but thanks i will check nearer the time.

Soliman have minibuses - so even with 5 you should only need one vehicle.

I did look at the Coral but as you said it wasn't clear from the site what board it was offering, although I'm not to fussed what board I am, it really depends on the location of a hotel and what's round and about. It looked really cheap on the site for a week from 14th April.

Now I am really confused because I thought for Nuwebia you had to fly into Taba or is it equidistant from both? I'm thinking of going there next year as well or in Oct half term if I get really lucky. We are following each other round the world, or at the least Portland's holiday brochure. LOL
Chris :D
I'm going to check out Jetline, do you know who they are or anyone thats used them, the're not another (sl)ezy are they? Will google them.

Nuweiba is nearer Taba - maybe two-thirds of the way up the Gulf.

Jetline are reliable. Just booked with them this morning, and used them last year. Longwoods own reps in resort recommend them for discounts over their brochure prices. Phone, don't book on-line with them, you'll get a better deal. 0870 333 2921.

Cheers Alan, :D your really on the ball today. I was just about to go on their site. So using them is really like booking with Longwoods.

good luck chris . Ob viously ive not been to the coral YET so i could be talking complete poo but as far as i can make out Taba would be the airport of choice but the flights are not as widely available so many seem to use Sharm if there is more availabilty and prices are cheaper . Obviously it is a longer transfer tho . Being used to a 2 hr transfer when we go to turkey it should be a breeze if you get a better deal   .

I think you will find that is an A/I price but check to confirm :D

We seem to be getting used to this 2 main holidays a year thing :D

lyn
ps. you must be spending your entire life on the computer at the mo :D you seem to be in the middle of trying to book 2 holidays 8) exiting tho.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned regarding the pros and cons of flying to Sharm or Taba for the Coral Hilton is that the transferfrom Taba takes the same amount of time (usually) as a private transfer from Sharm. There are several stops at other hotels on the way down to Nuweiba from Taba except in high season when there may be a whole coach dedicated to The Coral. I have come to the conclusion that it makes no difference where you fly to as long as you end up in glorious Nuweiba!

I'm wedded to my keyboard LOL. Had to reply to a few pms as well about the Bel Bech, and Katiesmum :kiss has given me loads of good info as well.

I go back to work next week so am trying to make the most of my time and get this sorted, although I still need to get the leave agreed at work.

The hilton emailed me back with a good price for H Sharm Dreams, B&B 105 dollars per night and half price for second room. Sounded good, but I dont know what rate they will give on currency conversion, although I know the dollar is struggling at present.

I'm waiting for an email back re the Coral, but dont fancy the transfer from Sharm. I can get 4 Excel flight for about 1K. Thomson/Thomas Cook et al were useless for me.

Thanks for all your help, Tony's post has brough me some good info.

HI Carrot :D
Sorry I didn't see your post. Thanks for that info as for me it definately seems to be easier to find more reasonably priced flights to Sharm than to Taba, so its good to know I have both options.

Chris you could always buy your $dollars here before you go and pay them in cash. At least then you will know exactly what you will be paying and no nasty surprises when they do their currency conversation. Or can you take $ dollar travellers cheques. :? that may be another option.

Thats a good idea, never though of that. I noticed on the hilton website that if you pay up front you get a preferential rate, but if you pay the rack rate all you have to give is a cc number and then pay on departure.

I suppose I could get one of those new card thingys that they have in the travel agents that you load up with dollars before you go and use that. Do you think they would be geard up for that kind of thing in Egypt?

Doe, give the Coral a couple of days for the reply to your email. Sometimes we get a reply within 1/2 hour, sometimes it can take days.

Regarding the airports, we prefer to fly to Taba. It's a much smaller airport, therefore less hassle (especially when flying home). You get a lot, lot more choice at duty free at Sharm though.
If you have private transport, then it will take about an hour to get to Nuweiba from Taba. And the scenery is a lot nicer too, especially when driving past the Fjord.

I forgot to say, the trip we've just booked for February (Have I said we're going in Feb yet  ) we are flying with Thomson to Taba. It worked out about £30 dearer than flying with XL to Sharm, but it works out the same with the transfers. Plus we can check in at Gatwick the night before so we don't have to queue with the other rabble early in the morning!

I never had the option of 2 different rates when I booked :( dont know very much about those card thingys im afraid Im sure i took $US travellers cheques with me when i went to florida many moons ago :? but at the end of the day hilton is a large international company if these card thingys are widely used im sure they would take it. Im gonna check with the hotel before i go and see what options i have in paying with $ dollars because im damm sure they will make out of the currency exchange unless im one step ahead. when we were there last year our diving came to quite a lot of money around £1000 for the 3 of them . quite an expensive sport  any way the dive school at the hilton quoted all prices in euros and i took the euros in cash with me. of course there were extras that we hadnt budgeted for which i paid on my credit card but by the time it was calculated in their lousy exchange rate and then the credit card company did the same i was well out of pocket.I was just so relieved i had brought most of it in cash euros.

sorry ive gone on there a bit but i think the moral of the story is whatever currency you get quoted in - try to pay it in that currency. I wouldnt worry about it yet tho if you decide to book you can investigate that at a later time.

:omg Everest that means you are going 5 times, if I've followed the rambling thread correctly. (and lets face it with all the talk of Big Brother and bathrooms its not an easy thread to follow!). I am so envious, you must love it there, what an advert for a hotel.

I am actually not emailing the hotel direct, I'm doing it via the Hiltons UK web-site. I'm getting in quite a mess I've got quotes all over the shop.

Thanks for all this info, even if I don't get there this time, I'm going to make it some time in the near future.

Lyn
I know what you mean about currency transations, you just know your gonna lose out whatever way round.
