you will love the amaika as it is a proffesionally run and beautifully presented hotel,we stayed at the olympic twice last year and as part of the deal we enjoyed the facilities of its sister hotels.We initially found the amaika dark and depressing due to its saloon style bar ,but the food in the restaurant and the high standard of service more than compensated and our first impressions were otherwise good.It is a 4 star hotel and there is table service provided so tipping is expected.All in all the amaika is a credit to the h top group and the contrast between the osiris(calella palace)is amazing,cant tell you what the entertainment in the amaika is like though,but it has to be better than your original choice beause the entertainment in the osiris was great if you had a front seat,but further back you wouldnt see a thing.I would also suggest that when you are in the costa brava you take the time to visit the royal beach in the Fenals area,use the little train in callela as its incredibly cheap to do so,and dont forget to visit the little bar next door to the olympic and sample its rib rack,it has cheap beer,a nice glass of wine,and a very nice parrot and I DID SAY PARROT NOT CLARET.You should enjoy yourselves and I HOPE YOU DO. : :

we were meant to be staying at the osrisis but they said it had been improved to a 4* and it was a little expensive for us so we decided to stay at the paradis park instead glad we swapped.

by the look of the crane and building work still ongoing here i would be surprised if the Osiris opens in the near future-maybe later in season ie sept, but would be surprised if this hotel is open for summer peak period. it looks like the overdue facelift is going ahead big style.

We were going to book this for sept but i think we'll hold off for just now.
Don't fancy it much if it's just going to be open.
Does anyone have any more info on it?

i believe that if you book the Osiris for this year and it is not open that you will be put up in the Amaika hotel(which is 4*) so it might be worth checking with your TO/TA that this is case as this would be a good deal.

Does anyone remember ' Chris ' who was an Entertainer at the Hotel Osiris in Calella ?

I am trying to track him down as I lost his contact details - Can anyone help ?

I think the best ever Entertainments team the hotel has ever seen was Jimbo, Chris and Becky who were there for the 2002 season.

Chris & Becky stayed on for the 2003 season and then left in October 2003 - Shame that as they were great.

Hope someone can help.

Sorry to bring this up again.
Friends have booked to go here in september we have booked the amaika.
Having read claires report this morning our friends phoned tour op who said it is only cosmetic work going on and that it is ready inside. They know they will get moved if it's not ready but are worried they might not get amaika if it is full. Is anyone there just now who knows what the situation is with the osiris/callela palace. We would be grateful for any info.

i think there telling porkys ,when we were there all they were doing was working on the roof. the balconies had no frames ,just bases to them , there was no windows and nothing inside the rooms at all .the spanish don't rush .the reps we were talking to said there is'nt much chance of it being open for the end of the season ( october ).direct holidays told us it would be ready in june ,but they did'nt tell us which june .

there is no way hotel is going to be finished this year.

Just had an e-mail from H-Top reservations Manager who has advised me that the hotel will be re-opening on the 29th July 2006

had email from rep who finished at calella last wednesday she said october it's going to be ready . still nowhere near to be finishing

the calella palace is reopening on the 22nd july 2006. im out there on the 24th. got information from the h.top group and from holiday nights. will let you know on this site what the refurbishment is like. will post this on the site shortly after 3rd aug.
