the catalan govenment is looking to introduce a new tourist tax on a per night basis on all hotels. €3 per night for 5* hotels, €2 for 4* and €1 for other establishments

Just pricing themselves out of the tourist market
I know the recession has hit Spain hard but other countries are also suffering and this will certainly stop me from holidaying in the area

I am sure they introduced this a few years ago as when we went to Minorca we had to pay a tourist tax.
echo tax.did not work then and will not work now.hotels just gave you beer instead.to make up for it.or other options to re pay you.
