a normal appartment or studio costs you from 25 to 50 euros per night. Normally aircon is extra from 5 to 10 euros. It depends what you expect. I would not want to live in a cheap studio, as there is no guarantee that nothing is broken etc.

Be careful with places in and around Faliraki because these can be very basic, not maintained and grim. These sort of places are let out to the clubbers who are usually too muntered to notice!

Have a look at Mango's web site. It's in the old town, reasonably priced and kept clean. A friend of mine uses it every year on his way to Tilos.
The taverna in the centre, Mango 2 is also very reasonable for food as well.
Dimitri is a nice bloke and his wife looks after the rooms.

I was talking to a couple over in Turkey who live in the midlands, and I couldn't think of the name of the place, but they knew it as well and said it was OK.

You can phone hi, and book for 1 night and stay longer if you wish.

Never stayed at the Mango, but I can vouch that the people who run it are very friendly. Nikis Rooms on Sofokeous are also friendly and very helpful http://www.nikishotel.gr/pricelist.htm

Parky - you've got a friend who goes to Tilos every year??? If he's been going since before 2000, I might well know him!

Hello

If you want Lindos, as you are walking around you will see lots of places with studios to let and there are lots of travel agents within Lindos that can help you. Have you thought about booking somewhere through the internet before you go?

Elenitsa, you may well know Andreas as the locals call him. He used to stay with the widow of a Police officer from Rhodes or Athens who ran a B&B right on the beach.

Tazz, you might find something around €12 p/p/p/night. That's what Dimitri was charging.

I'll amend that - I've just looked at the room prices and as usual, they've rocketed. $30 per night for a single - US$. Unless you can get a better price by phoning.

:offtop Don't know Andreas, but from the description of his landlady, she might be Paraskevi!

Room rates in August are silly wherever you go - we're off to Crete on 7 September and are paying 35 euros for a room and B&B for 2 (a very good rate nowadays) (I can remember paying less than 2000 drax for a double!)
