Sanji, I totally agree with you about people mauling food in hotel dining rooms, I am forever complaining to my hubby about them and about people who use the loos without washing their hands, and believe me there are quite a lot of them. I was in a long queue in a bar in tenerife and I could see into the toilets, and I would think 2 out of every 3 women who used the loos, didnt wash their hands. It makes me ashamed to be the same sex .

Could anyone tell me how big the single rooms are please thank you.

Whenever I've booked a Single room at the Regente I've always been allocated a double room! :D

Probably cos they ain`t got no single rooms :D :D :D

The Hotel Regente has 195 recently refurbished double rooms complete with full bathroom, balcony, air-conditioning, heating, telephone, and optional safe.

Thats a pretty sound reason Sanji!!   I usually see double when I've had a noggin or two, so I was'nt entirely on solid ground with that one!

I went there last year and I wouldn't go back if I was paid.
Food was bland and the entertainment was rubbish to non existant.
On the plus side the hotel was spotless and the maid service was excellent, but everything else was poor.

I cant offer an opinion on the Entertainment, because I'm out every night. As for the food, again I eat out in Spanish Restaurants almost every night, so I've only had one Lunch and one Dinner in the Hotel, and to be honest I was quite impressed really, particularily for the price paid! Had a really good Paella there at Lunch, and Fish in the Evening, and I had no complaints about quality or choice...maybe it would be different if I ate there for every meal..I dont know. Most of the people I have spoken to there are happy with the place, I've heard a few comments about food choice being a bit repetitive, but I've heard that said in most hotels actually! Breakfast is very typical of most European Tourist hotels, no better or worse than most I would say. The one thing that most people seem to agree on is how friendly the staff are here, and I would certainly agree with that, having stayed there several times now! The hotel certainly gets a lot of repeat business, which is usually a good sign. :D

I`ve got my thinking cap on again, instead of throwing snowballs

....and much better too Sanji!  Mind you, I do tend to start worrying somewhat, when you start Thinking!

I stayed in August a few years ago, the entertainment changes in the summer to an outside Disco with lots going on for the kids. They also now run a kids club with some night time sessions. I personaly don`t think you`ll have any problems with the entertainment. They also have a board displayed with the act that will be on that night.

Do we have to take a kettle with us thanks

Yes, if you want to make a cuppa tea in your rooms
I brought a travel kettle with a 2 pin adapter, some tea bags and dried milk, then bought 2 cheap mugs that I will probably sling in the bin tomorrow....the 2 pin adapters can be bought here for a couple of Euros and most shops sell them.

I would also recommend that you buy bottled water, although whilst the water here in Benidorm is "safe", it has a very high mineral content and this can be clearly seen in the bath water and the state of the element in the kettle if you use tap water.
All Benidorms water is treated and recycled. but the mineral content can upset some delicate tummies which are not use to it.....and really for a Euro for a huge bottle of mineral water, it is not worth taking the risk.IMO.
All other questions about the Hotel Regente I will try and answer after Wednesday.

Sue.....I have asked the Thomson rep this morning about the kids entertainment......
There will be 2 childrens reps based here from 1st May and you have to sign your kids in the club and pay a fee.
I dont know the price and neither did the rep....she said it is based on the ages of the kids and how long they wish to be a "member"...but we are not talking megabucks (her words)
There is already a childrens room available where I suppose they will all hang out.
IMO: another rip off. ...since when did you have to pay for your kids to go into a kids club?....ok my kids are 35 & 25 respectively, but I was not aware that you now have to pay.

My God, That is outrageous. :swear
The amount of money you fork out with them for your holiday and excursions, you'd think they make enough out of you. Take your eyeballs then come back for the sockets. We usually leave the girls a tip at the end of the holiday, but if this is the case, they can whistle dixie.
We are going fully inclusive this year(Flamingo Oasis) wonder if this will be in with the price......(6week tomorrow) :sun

Hi Sanji, I was really more interested in the evening entertainment within the hotel for all of us as a family rather than a seperate kids club.

Our Kids probably won't go to the kids clubs, preferring to spend all their time with us. The 11 year old feels "Far too old" and our 5 year old went once last year and said "No more school club" so that was the end of that. I think those places are fine for kids who want to attend but I think that it's awful when parents put them in there when they're clearly upset. (Just my personal opinion)

I have had a look in my brochure though and it states that the Kids Zone runs 5 days a week for 2 hour sessions (day time) and is Free of Charge, perhaps it depends who you book with, I don't know.It also says that it runs 3 evenings a week and a small charge may apply for some activities.

We always take a travel kettle and some sachets of Nescafe 2 in 1 milk and coffee. My hubby takes sugar so we also acquire some sugar sachets from Asda prior to going.

Enjoy your last night Sanji.

Hiya Sue

I`m gonna come around with the begging bowl for the amount of money I have spent on this computer
Only joking hun...it is still pithing it down with rain and I hear thunder in the background.....I`m already packed and we have just come downstairs for a drink, much to the hubbys delight it is happy hour, so he has 2 G&T`s to get through...they just spring happy hour on you here without any prior notice.
IMO: There is sod all for the kids here at the moment, but we are still on the winter brochures and I would imagine things will change on the 1st May.
There are live acts that come in every night and usually perform around 9-30 pm onwards....most of them are also advertised and appearing in different venues around town.
Just a note, whilst I have been here, we have seen the same act on Sunday nights only....every other night has been someone different, and they are obviously playing for a mature audience.
I`ve not stopped in every night...only when I have done far too much walking during the daytime, and whilst I am not at the zimmer frame stage yet, for me and Mr Sanji, the entertainment has been much more enjoyable than having the animation team dressing up and mimming to something like Grease or the Rocky Horror Show....but I appreciate that what I like, others may hate....infact one guy was far too good for this place and the accustics (spel?)and equipment here did not do him justice.
They have a resident DJ who fills the time in playing records that will appeal to the older generation at the moment, but again I think that will change for the summer months.

Well, it looks like a night in for us, unless the rain in Spain decides to fall on the plain and miss Benidorm
Might catch you later, depending on how the weather pans out tonight.
