Does anyone have any hand info or tips for this place for a group of football team mates going in May. Such as places to go, prices for drinks, eating out etc, weather and whether smart clothes have to be worn - as its a prestige hotel. Any help would be really appreciated. Many thanks:)
We stayed here for a long weekend in August. It's a great hotel, very cosmopolitan but on the far side of Benalmadena (which I hated!!!) so quite a long walk to the night life. Great breakfasts in hotel although we had difficulty finding anywhere decent to eat at night, wished we'd stayed in the hotel! They're not that strict about the dress code - they would let you into the casino in jeans although not sure about the restaurant. The bar was busy and no dress code in there, you could also get snacks, sandwiches etc. Pool area great with gated access to a private beach, although a little rocky. Don't remember drinks being that expensive in the hotel. Have a great time.
Thanks for the info - can you advise a bit further! How far is the walk as the group are no teenagers being a vets football team and what is the downside to Benalmadena? Also, any tips on what/where to go during the day. Lastly, who did you fly with and to which airport? can't find this hotel in any brochure (nor can the travel agents!) so booking flights separately. Look forward to hearing from you - many thanks:)
Hi there, the walk into town is about 1/2 hour to the first 'block' of restaurants, there was a dutch bar up a side road near the hotel but it was never open. It took us about 1 hour to walk to the marina (it is downhill) which is the liveliest part, got a taxi back! Personal opinion was that Benalmadena was tacky - but then it was mid August and school holidays. We booked hotel direct and flew with My Travel Lite into Malaga, took about 2 1/4 hours from Birmingham, taxi from airport to hotel was 18 euros at 1.30am, took about 1/2 hour due to amount of traffic in the centre of the resort. As I said hotel first class - thoroughly enjoyed our weekend there - spent the days on the beach so can't comment on any other activities although plenty of golf courses nearby! Hotel have a website but try looking in city break brochures found it in one, think it may have been Cresta.
We have one review of this hotel at
Thanks a lot for all the info, its been really helpful, many thanks:)
Things to do. Do visit the park above the Windmill roundabout. There are some good and cheap English Tapas bars in the Gamanol complex. Just ask the way. Do walk up the hill from the park to Arroyo de la Miel, for a slightly more Spanish Town feel.
Have heard that the Hotel Torrequebrada has a WiFi setup. Does anyone know if this is true and is it free access ?
I am staying at the TorreQ hotel next year and have booked my golf too at TorreQ. Is the course within walking distance from the hotel? Remember I'll be carrying a set of clubs!!!
The entrance to the golf course is a good mile uphill from the hotel. Best get a taxi.
Brian, don't drop in on Le Coq D'Or, opposite Torrequebrada, thinking it's the 19th hole!
