Hi
I need your help and advice again.
We have decided to stay in or near Clydebank now, instead of Glasgow.
Doe's anyone know if there is a Premier Inn, Travel Lodge etc there. Someone mentioned Milton about 3 miles from Clydebank, but I cannot find it
Thanks

Hi Graham
I have found one hotel Erskine Bridge Hotel..... Do you know it?
Yes I know it, it's located on the opposite side of the River Clyde and unless you are hiring a car access to and from it is severely limited, with a very limited bus service as your only option.
Here are a few suggestions that you could consider
Clydebank
The Beardmore Hotel http://www.thebeardmore.com/ located in Clydebank with good access to public transport including Dalmuir train station 5-10 minutes walk.
The Radnor hotel http://www.theradnorparkhotel.co.uk/ in Clydebank with excellent local transport including Singer train station 5 minutes away.
The Travelodge you were mentioning at Milton is http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=201 and is called Dumbarton, this is located just outside Dumbarton at Milton (Dumbuck) and the only public transport to Clydebank would be by frequent bus or you would have to go approximately one mile either direction in to Dumbarton or Bowling to catch a train.
Also in Milton (Dumbuck) you have the Milton Inn http://www.miltoninn.co.uk/
Dumbarton
Dumbarton has excellent choice of trains and bus service in to Clydebank and you have a choice of The Dumbuck House Hotel http://www.dumbuckhousehotel.com/ or The Abbotsford Hotel http://www.abbotsfordhotel.com/ both of which are about a 10 mnute walk from a train station.
Balloch
Nice place (as you know ) has excellent bus and rail transport to get you to Clydebank in about 20 minutes.
Accommodation in Balloch includes, The Innkeepers Lodge (Loch Lomond) http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/lodgedetail.asp?lid=52
or The Waterhouse Inn http://www.waterhouseinn.co.uk/
or The Tullie Inn (my local ) http://www.maclay.com/tullie-inn-balloch.html
I hope this gives you something to start looking at, as always just ask if you want more info or perhaps other options such as B&B.

Would we be able to get a cab from the Erskine Bridge Hotel? How much roughly?
Don't think we will be hiring a car, not sure yet.
The Beadmore is a bit more expensive, trying to keep the costs down
Milton Inn sounds good, I have put it in my favs. And Travel Lodge, but not sure I fancy a sofa bed lol. Would have to give my auntie the bed.
Waiting for a response from The Randor Park Hotel.
Going to check out the ones in Dumbarton next and Balloch (which I know is a lovely place )
Wonder if the new owners of Mavie Mill could put us up
Thank you for your help.

It looks like an easier option to go to London first, stay with my parents, then get the train from London to Glasgow. Can get a train for £17.50 travelling with my dad.
I guess all 4 of us could get a cab from Glasgow to Clydebank, would it be about £20.00?
Or another option get the train to Clydebank, which is about a tenner more than train to Glasgow.
Going to check flights from Heathrow now
Cheers

A taxi from the Erskine Bridge Hotel to / from Clydebank I think would be £15-20 it really is in the middle of nowhere.

Yes a taxi from Glasgow city Centre to Clydebank would be about £20.
I forgot about these 2 hotels, both of which are situated on the A82 at the north end of Clydebank, probably a 20 minute walk from Singer rail station although they are both close to a main bus route that passes the station.

Okay well that's the Erskine Bridge Hotel crossed of the list. I really like the look of Milton Inn. Would do us for the 2 nights. I will see if they have 2 rooms free for our dates.
The Milton Inn do nice (large) meals and there is also a carvery / pub a few minutes walk up the road
Crown Carveries sound nice too.
We might be able to have a drink together this time and you can meet dad, mum will be staying at home this year.
All booked
