i have to say that sometimes it's great to be spontanious
I have to agree - but spontaneity doesn't have to cost money - some of the loveliest surprise things I've done have also been very cheap and very affordable. The impulse on a very clear, mild Midsummer's Eve to head for the top of highest hill around and wait for the sunrise was magical. Phoning round pals at the last minute on a Saturday evening when my plans for going out fell through at the last minute and there was nothing decent on the TV and suggesting that that anybody who hadn't got any other plans could come round to mine for fish and chips in front of a DVD was huge fun in the end as all us 'saddoes' gossiped our way through our fav rom-coms.
I don't want to sound smug but perhaps I am, because I still wouldn't purchase something, however much I wanted it at the time, unless I definitely knew what else I could economise on so that by the time the credit card bill came through I could still settle it in full as usual. I have a really strong aversion to paying the banks any interest when they pay me so little on the money I deposit with them.
