Came back from Icmeler on the 26th of May and I have to say that I didnt find the prices too bad. A lot of restaurants did a 3 course meal with free garlic bread and mezes for about 19 lira. Efes could be had readily for 2 1/2 lirs though in some places it was 3 1/2. Kebab rolls from 2 to 5 lira and house spirits 5 lira. I sometimes think we get greedy when in Turkey as I would find it impossible to go out in Newcastle and find the same standard of food and drink at anywhere near those prices. As for the shopping, just dont get me started Oh, and the restaurant at the Alinda Hotel do a Mega T bone steak (32oz) for 22 1/2 tl, about £10-50
Beat that !!!!
we found out that the same week last year, they had approx 900 guests... last week they had 100 !!
i remember having to get up for 7:30 just to get a sunbed last year. But when we went in at 10:30 there was only 10-15 beds taken
Just back, resort deader than dead. Baran bar closed down for 3 days due to hassle. Seems new mayor wants to make resort posher and closing places down at drop of hat. Boat trips were not out as normal. Prices in resort are dearer than last year average for glass of pop 3L for small 5L for large one. Large efes usually 4L sometimes 5L. Wine was averaging 25-27L a bottle which is extortionate! All in all I like marmaris but there is still a lot of hassle, especially in bazaar usually only couple of people in one street at once. Also more shops opening now, seems all restaurants what been there years not there any more or moving to back streets.
Holiday fads come and go, a few years ago Turkey was all the rage, there will be somewhere else getting all the attention.
I remember going to a resort in Southern Spain, the Germans had abanded it for Turkey, it was quite sad, there was loads of German Bars closed up.
Any more reports about this season? (sorry to bump this up )
Mpst of the restaurans we was in e.g. Loveboat, Chef, Lighthouse, Madoolin and 3 Bells all seemed to be doing well.
I also believe it is quiter now days in June due to schools not allowing children to take holidays outside of school time.

We have been going to turkey for about twelve years now ,the last three we have been going to the sun zeynep in belek .The price of the A/I package has not risen much since the first time we went ,as for prices in the resort they dont seem to be much higher .We have compared prices in places we have been before example, Tenerife and they have certainly risen by at least 20/30 percent over the same period.
On subject of being quieter than previous years are there anymore returned holidaymakers who can add their thoughts ,thanks.
just back from icmeler on thursday , resort very quiet .marmaris too .alot less than last year ,popular restaraunts seem to be doing ok,but still alot of empty tables around . boat trip we use ,usually full , not so this year,we are returning in august maybe it will have picked up then . by the way the heat was unbearable never known it as hot ,hope it cools down in 3 weeks time
Been in May and July this year. Felt that May was busier than July but still quieter than last year. My friend who is a travel agent says that holidays to turkey are down compared to likes of dubai and Mexico. Also theres so many cheap flights now to Spain and Portugal. Just had a list of favourite holidays spots faxed to me and Turkey is now 20th on list compared to 9th last year. Hike in interest rates hasnt helped much either and also in general talk to people, long transfer times are no good
Was in Olu in June and Icmeler a fortnight ago and both trips went rather well if a little quite and uncrowded. Prices seems Ok if you shopped around.
