Playa de Muro is right next to Can Picafort, so in one sense there is no distance at all. Depends whereabouts you would like to go. After the border between Can Pic and PDM there are 2 kilometres of forest and dunes with a natural beach, i.e. no development, then hotels and some bars etc as far as the reception to the Albufera nature park (another kilometre or so) and then bars and restaurants in what is the main part of Playa de Muro going towards the border with Puerto Alcudia. The beach in PDM continues on from that in Can Picafort and right up to Alcudia, the only break being the canal that comes out of Albufera.

We have stayed right on the outside edge of Playa de muro and when we had a car we went to the supermarket right on the edge of Can Picafort. Although it only took a few minutes in the car, the road between is a main road and there is no buildings on either side, just greenland/trees as the previous post said. I wouldn't walk along it. You may be able to walk along the beach - we didn't try it. There is a bus which goes between Can Picafort and Playa de Muro and then goes onto Alcudia which runs every 15mins or so which was quite cheap, which may be a better option.

Yep, second that. Don't walk along the road itself. A woman with a baby buggy was hit by a car a couple of years ago - in broad daylight. It's not safe to walk along. However, there is a track to the side of the road by the nature park, and you could take that as far as the Alcudia Pins part of Playa de Muro when there is safe walking. You can certainly walk along the beach, no problem, though I'm not sure I'd recommend that at night time.
