Is that spending money just for you or more. By yourself you should get by but as a family it won't be. We went couple of years ago 14 nights S/C and we done £1500 2 adults and 2 kids. We don't drink much just 2 or 3 per day and the kids don't want to many fizzy drink. Made own breakfast and had plenty of juice and fizzy drinks in apartment. The year before that we half board in tenerife 7 nights and spent £600 with a couple of trips. Probably slight dearer this year. Will find out as we are going on the 10th July. Its always a good idea to carry your debit and credit card with you. Open a nationwide flex-account nationwide don't charge to cash money on your card and they give a better rate than in resort.

no it is just me and boyfriend i will get paid twice on hols aswell as i get paid weekly. i am half board in hotel and do not drink excessively. i probably wont buy any souveniers till end of hols and wait and see how much money i have left. when my family went in 2004 me, mam, dad, sister we only spend £1000 between 4 of us.

double check with your employer - they may be paying you two weeks in advance as holiday pay.

My mom just returned - she took £400 for 11 nights for drinks and lunches as she was half board. Didn't return with much change. Was just a few drinks at night and coffee mainly in the day.

Really depends on what you plan on doing.

many thanks thats prob what i will just be spending it on. after i have been paid twice on hols i will end up with around £1150 so i think i will have enough. during the day i usually buy snacks and drinks from supermarket as this works out much cheaper than keep going up to the bar all day. then it will be drinks on a night time. trip or 2 and a few souveniers at the end of the hols.

Hi, we went end of May for two weeks, two adults two kids. We cleared £2000, were having lunch, snacks, evening meals. Both kids now need adult meals so it makes a difference now! We drank every night, went to water park, go karting a few times, bit of petrol but still ending up putting a couple of things, scuba diving etc on card! Even if you are half board I seriously dont think you will get by two of you on £700!

We always stay in apartments not hotels, we eat out nearly every night and have breakfast and lunch mainly in the apartment.

I usually budget on £1500 for 2 weeks, most of that is on our evening meal and drinks.

On average a night out with drinks will cost us £80 per night.

The rest is spent on excursions and food and drinks for the fridge.

We went to Majorca last July and its surprising how much you spend, we were also half board in a hotel, but only for one week. Although we were two adults and two children we spent £1500 and thats without trips!! We are also not big drinkers at all. £700 for 2 weeks is only £25 per day each, think you will struggle to do trips etc. Alison

We go for 2 weeks S/C 2 adults and 2 children and I budget €100 Euro per day.

This is spent on drinks by the pool, lunch and evening meal out. We like a few drinks but are not big drinkers.

We managed last year and were not stingy, kids got all they wanted etc though we had about €1600 Euro in all.

You could research the price of the trips you want to go on, ask your travel agent who may be able to tell you their own rates, although it may be cheaper doing an independant trip out (others will advise)

As for lunches, we got by having pre packed cakes & chrisps from the local shop (we were also half board so wasnt hungry at lunchtimes)

A large bottle of water will be a few euros.

Hope that helps :)

For two adults and one child we budget for about €70-100 per day (self catering) which is about €1400 for two weeks (£67.00 per day or about £950.00 for the fortnight). This normally is sufficient to last us.

We do a food shop on the first day and buy essentials - cereals, bread, margarine, ham, cheese and fruit etc. We generally eat breakfast in the apartment each day, make a packed lunch daily with crisps or fruit (we always hunt a shop that makes fresh rolls/bread and buy daily) and then have our evening meal out in a restaurant which normally costs about €40. We have a couple of drinks with our meal and have usually purchased a bottle of spirit to have a tipple on the balcony later in the evening when daughter is in bed.

We try and work out what extra money we might need for any trips that we plan to take (you can normally work out the price of an excursion from the tour operator website. If you book direct in resort from a local vendor it is usually cheaper) and also take some extra money for the safe deposit and fee. I do take my debit card because we usually only carry enough cash for one week and so can take money out of the machine for the second week but it is always there for emergencies if necessary.

Hi, I just got back from santa ponsa a few weeks ago. I travelled with my boyfriend and our son (7). We stayed half board and made sure we ate a good breakfast. This lastest us for the day until our evening meal. We spent £1200, this included our drinks (out til 3am every night!) cigarettes, marineland, and pirates show. I think it all depends what you drink aswell - I drank brandy and had a bit of my lads coke! My fella drank lager but was not fussed on it so he went onto bottled beers which were a bit more expensive, then onto shorts cos you were getting a better deal. Have a good holiday! 8)

danksybaby,

I dont think €500 will be enough for the week for the two of you. It works out about £350 roughly. (£50 a day - £25 each). Please try and take some more just in case. You never know you might want to go on a trip or whatever. Better safe than sorry. If you dont want to take extra cash with you, you could always use the ATM which sometimes gives you a better exchange rate - but check to see if your banck charges for withdrawals abroad. Nationwide dont. Enjoy your holiday.

Danksybaby are staying AI so they really shouldn't need to spend a lot as meals and drinks are paid for.
We never spend more than €500 in a week in Spain even when we stay half board, but it all depends what you want from your holiday. We only have maybe one or two drinks in the evening and coffee and a sandwich at lunchtime. If we are staying in an apartment and buying meals then we obviously spend more.

But if people are on a tight budget, they don't have to pay a lot to get by.

If you rely on supermarkets for drinks, lunches etc. and don't hire a car. Aren't interested in going to bars and clubs.

And if you are AI and just want to chill out in the hotel, then why not?

it's kids and alcohol that are the biggest money drainers

good luck danksybaby hope you have a great time :)

I agree Acorncup.

I must admit, when I replied to this post earlier and started to add up what we will be taking and intend spending when we go on holiday, I did have a panic that maybe it wouldnt be enough! I know that it will be but it doesnt stop me from worrying .

We dont do it to be mean, but we do encourage our daughter to save half of her pocket money each week so that when we are away she can buy her own bits and bobs - ice-creams, toys, junk etc. I think she likes the fact that I have a purse that belongs to her with her money in it (and somehow always manages to come home with some).

I think if you have a budget, you need to stick to it. You can shop cheaply when you are away but I think that comes from experience as well.

If you're H/B then usually you'll only need to eat one other meal in the day and you'll easilly do this with a drink for about £7 each! Unless you want lobster or a posh restaurant for lunch! Most places do Chicken and chips etc for about 8 euros and then a drink for 2!
Obviously if you want to drink 10 pints every night you may need more money but if you have 4 or 5 you should be fine!
We usually buy any soft drinks for around the pool from the local shop (even though you're not supposed to but everybody does)
One thing I always do though is make sure theres some cash in the bank, just in case!
Also one thing to remember is whilst on holiday you won't be at home for two weeks so you'll also have that money to spend on holiday, ie no petrol/gas elec etc! And i don't know about anybody else but me and the wife spend about £100 in petrol over two weeks!

So

Meals - £6
Drinks- £1.60
Buses about 90p per journey
sandwiches in a bar £2
Sangria per litre in a bar £6
Sangria per litre from the shop 45p lol :D
Ice creams £1.40
Mcdonalds/Burgerking £3.50 per meal
Sun, sea sand and anything else beging with s, FREE :)
Have a good holiday!
