If you do take travelers cheques, don't take denominations larger than £50, as the time you try to change £100 you can guarentee they will only have rs50 notes and that's a lot of notes in your wallet.

If you use the small cafe bars you will find the food just as good as anywhere and also the little villages outside the main tourist area, read the thread on restaurants and places to eat in north Goa, i have given out a few little gems in Nerul which is a little village where i live just outside of Candolim.
The rupee is about 80 to 85 to the pound at the moment. So eat, drink and be merry.
You will have a great time, i have no doubt of that.

angieh, we took £500 this year and couldnt spend it all, we didnt book any trips tough, but did have a taxi drivr who took us all over including a spice plantation,
Any large purchases and the hotel bill are always paid for by credit card. Speaking of which not all places take mastercard and we have to give them visa instead. So I would suggest taking one of each with you.
thanks for all your replies..sorry its took a while to reply but im having a bit of trouble with my internet.....bloody computers hey...lol
anyway thanks again
angie xx
I note that a few members have had trouble spending all of their money on previous holidays. If you encounter the same problem this year my wife will be on baga beach and i am sure she will be willing to help relieve you of your excess rupees. There is always that nice ring in the jewellers or the bag in the leather shop, don't be afraid to ask.
