Hi everyone, just found this forum and review site as i've been looking for info and tips about Hyatt Regency in Taba Heights.
The reviews and comments on here about the Hyatt are really helpful and comforting especially as i've just booked to go there for 2 weeks in April (11th-25th). Pleased to be going on Monarch ex gatwick as i know from previous experience astraeus do not have entertainment, (luckily i had a handheld radio, its just i didn't expect it to be entertaining 200 people, the only problem was the folks at the back couldn't hear it)
Anyway from what most of you say the Hyatt is the best in the area, also noted to take a kettle, planning on taking a 3ltr wine box for the fridge in the room, taking own mask and snorkel, can't wait to see the underwater views, also got the Hyatt gold passport for any freebies they want to pass my way, covered most things you have all tipped/quoted.
What i would like to know is if anyone has gone very recently? have any more hotels gone up? i heard intercontinental were going in there, also whats the news on the golf course? and also has the airport at taba gained any new facilities?
I have been to Sharm twice, once just outside Naama bay and then for 2 weeks at the Farouyz, so i understand a bit about the heat, culture, tipping etc, i really liked Sharm and i hope Taba is just as good, i know its really quiet but i'm happy to lie on a sunbed all day and do a bit of snorkelling so its looks ideal, any helpful tips though are most welcome.
Thanks Andy.
I was last there in July 03 and everything Briars says is spot on. But then if you get a small group together pop over to Eilat and sample all the clubs, quite a few were open until 5am, so you come out just as the sun is thinking of rising.
As far as I am aware the Intercontinental is supposed to be opening later in the year, but they've been saying that for some time. I'm sure the golf course is still a dustbowl, and I doubt they've even broken the ground for the casino and cinema they were supposedly planning.
Its a shame they don't allow night diving at Taba heights, at least then I'd have something to do in the evenings.
Actually i'm looking forward in great anticipation to seeing the legendary Russian girls, sounds like Taba's answer to the Cheeky Girls!?
might even take them their CD so they have some new material
Another point i forgot, is there quad biking out there? i did this in Sharm and it was fantastic, also is there horse riding nearby?
Also, can you buy cigarettes in resort? like at the hotel shop, or garage, not necessarily duty free, and do they have a duty free shop at the airport when you leave?
No duty-free at Taba airport as of 6th Jan 2005. Just the usual loud music and expensive coffee!
hi due to go to the hyatt aug this year, heard lots about it some good some bad, wondered if there are any tips i need to know, by the way r there any shops about out there heard alot of negs would be nice to hear some feedback
Do you know when the israeli's have their holidays in taba?
The Movenpick Taba Heights is supposed to be open by June.
There a duty free shop in Nuweiba and one at the Taba border.
Beautiful weather here !!!
P.S. Cheeky Girls ? Please tell me more !
No rumour Swiss! Holiday Inn, Hyatt, Radisson SAS, Sofitel, Marriot and Three Corners are all on First Choice website for this summer.
How far to Nuweiba from Taba Heights? also is the duty free any good? whens it open? and typical prices? is it worth going for the day, like other things to see/do?
P.S cheeky girls? you don't really want to know i think the comparison we're trying to make is that of an annoyance and lack of talent/originality in other words "distinctly average"
50 km to Nuweiba, 55 km to Nuweiba Port where the duty free is. They dont have a good choice.... a few brands of Scotch, a couple each of gin and vodka and so on. Cheapest Scotch was US$ 8, Ballantines US$ 15. Gordons Gin I think was US$ 12, Vodka US$ 8 - 10 plus a few bottles of local wine and beer. Its there if needed, and they do accept Egyptian pounds.
Check the following link for all the festivals...
Swiss - re: Cheeky Girls, just check out http://www.cheeky-girls.com. Actually Romanian (I think) twins who entered a 'talent' show on UK TV (Pop Idol or Pop Stars, maybe Bone Idle - one or the other) they were appaling and have made a career of it...
Roger... do you have any details on Thomsons plans for Taba / Nuweiba ? I checked out the F C website but cant get anything from the Thomson site.
As far as I can tell from a few sources, Thomson are not offering anything in Taba or Nuweiba at the moment. Strange isn't it, but maybe they will come on-stream in a month or two?
They have around a dozen hotels on offer in Sharm though so perhaps they are happy with that for this year?
Regards,
Roger.
If it helps Swiss I can have a hunt around in the local Thomson/TC etc for Egypt holidays from the UK and mail some brochures to you. I presume there's an address on your hotel website.
BTW - I have a suspicion the background pic of a hotel pool area on that site is your hotel is it?
Sorry, just seen on your previous link it starts on 24th April, mmm, well i 'll spend the last day underwater
I'm off to the Hyatt Regency in Taba Heights in 5 Sleeps time! Can't Wait! Anyway...i've recieved my Hyatt Gold Card and was just wandering if people gave their gold card info before departing via email or on checking in at time of arrival?
Hi,

Which is the preferrable room type to have whilst staying at the Hyatt Regency in Taba Heights?
They offer standard, sea view, seafront, lagoon view.
