Hi, Kidsrep, I have two children boy aged16 and girl aged 13, the kids clubs are great for the 13 year old, but as for the 16 year old the tour operators should do something more interesting got the older teenagers, like discos, beach partys, etc, its very hard to try and keep a 16-18year from getting bored on holiday as they are not allowed in night clubs or allowed to drink, they think its not very cool to go on holiday with their parents, but are not allowed to go alone until they are 18, so i think TO should tey and get a club running for the older teenagers, as we have been to 9 AI and the only trouble has been from older teen agers as they have nothing to do at night, could you please tell me who you work for as we have used many kids clubs in the past. :wave

Bellingham, I agree with most of the points you make, but it is hardly fair to expect the reps to 'police' your 16-18 year old 'kids' with activities ... even teachers have problems in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 with youngsters who think that they have rights to independent but still illegal behaviour.

I think you are hoping for the best but if parents cannot channel their youngsters into suitable activities on holiday, in the evenings particularly, it is unlikely that 'youth reps', despite their best efforts, can fill the bill ...

Young people's reps do a fantastic job - for very little pay and are rarely thanked either by their clients or their clients' parents.

You have my respect, Kidsrep.

i can understand what you are saying about the older kids, they are hard to keep amused at that age, i work for First Choice and we do have our wavelength reps(mostly in the holiday villages) they do activities more suited to the older children, look for "in to action" these are first choices reps for the older kids and you may find activities your kids will enjoy,i will also use the staff forum to pass onto the "upper echelons" as it were and speak to my manager personally when i get back to Marmaris in April, im sure something can be done, i know that isnt much at this point but its a start

P.S thanks for your comments, thanks are nice now and again, but(and im sorry if this sounds sickly or something) for me, its knowing that the kids have enjoyed their holiday and that we have helped them do so thats important to most of us

Hi Kidsrep and Alsacienne, We went to the Pegasos Palace HV in Turkey this year and my daughter who is13 lived the Wavelengh, but my son who is 16 throught it was boring, they had no adult avtivities such as (archery rifle shooting, mini gol fect)also Alsacienne, you should not jugde all teen agers the same, thats why i think they should have some kind of youth club at all HV to stop the minorty of the teenagers who do course trouble, hopr that gives you some idea what alot of parents want for their teenagers a most of the familes at the PP where compalining their was not alot to do at night for any child over 10. :shrug

thanks Bellingham i will pass your comments on to the relevant powers at First Choice i am surprised about your comments with regard to Wavelength as i thought they had activities which older kids would find interesting especially at the holiday villages, but there you go, i should point out that due to a lot of new regulations we have to make sure activities comply to certain health and safety checks but as i said i will be passing what i can on and see if anything can be done

In response to Alex,im working at Club Alize also next season, hope to see you there!

Bellingham, following what you said about lack of activities at HV, i assume they had the "In2Action" reps?,because im looking at the brochure and they should have been, and also according to the FC families brochure, Wavelength have a 8pm to 11pm session which includes beach barbacues and other activities for the older kids, sorry if i seem unsure but i look after the 3 to 8 year olds so the older kids club is something i havent had much experience of(but im going to find out more trust me)

Hi kidsrep

Am going to The First Choice holiday village in Lanzarote in Feb and was wondering if the service will be open then for our boys whom are 13 and 11.
We went to the Lagotel in Majorca (Alcudia) last Summer and ours then went to Wavelength. A Really good lad called Craig did it for that age and he was great in getting on with the children
I think you provide a top class service there- and we always try to book with First Choice. Well done

oops! sorry meant to say that both Wavelength and In2Action are available at the Sun Tropical HV in Lanzarote

also would just like to state(for the record as it were)that though i work for FC im not actually speaking on behalf of them,im merely an (overzealous?) employee who enjoys the job and so if i say something, please dont take it as the official FC line(thought had better clarify that as would hate to lose my job cos said the wrong thing!)i am happy to help as best i can but please bear that in mind when you ask me something, but i will find out what i dont know and let you know(as it were)where possible
