I was wondering if anyone could answer the following.
What are the drinks they serve?
What type of food is typical of them serving?
Do the bars serve vodka?
How much does the bar on the beach charge per drink?
Can you rent fridges?
I've also read that the hotel was being "done up" is it finished?
Is the outdoor pools warm enough to swim in in august?
Do the rooms have a tv? What channels do the tv's have? Got an 8 year old and 2 year old who will want to watch tv.
Is it advisable to tip room mades everyday or tell them you will tip at the end of the stay? Same with everyone?
Anything else people can think I will need to know would be great.
I'm going to this hotel in august (13th-27th)

Hi, they serve all drinks at the bar apart from cider, you also get fresh juices such as pineapple, strawberry etc.
All bars serve vodka, ask for a small one though as they do pour rather large ones!
Food is a mixture of Tunisian food and English food, plenty of choice, you can also get fresh pizzas made at every meal.
Beach bar is AI, the ship is not, but not sure of prices.
You can rent fridges for medical purposes, not sure if you can just for the room.
It was getting done up in November, no noise or mess with that, and should be finished by August.
August the heat is 40oC so pools will be needed to cool down, there is also an indoor pool.
Only the superior rooms have TVs, normal rooms dont.
We tipped them on leaving, same with the man in the dining room who brough our drinks.
Hi do you know if there is anyway of sweet talking the management into upgrading your room to a superior room?
I've never had a problem getting my room changed, though I do admit that a bottle of whisky can make a good bargaining tool.
Going tomorrow for the first time so will post an honest review when i return
If it's the one in Skanes my daughter was there last year with her husband and youngest son aged 12. They had a great time it and took some lovely pictures but found there was not a lot to do in Skanes itself so had to go into Sousse.
I've read that you have to be up early for sun beds, if we tip the day before will the sun bed man reserve some for us?
Is 1 dinar enough per tip? We would need 11 beds. Or would you say more?
Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to walk into Monastir or Souse from the Sahara beach hotel. We dont mind long long walks as long as its safe and there is pavments as we will have a childs buggy with us. How long would it take to walk to the towns if we did. Thanks
Mmmm, it is a longish walk, the Sahara Beach Hotel is located 8km from Monastir and 12km from Sousse so you are talking roughly at the most about 2 hrs walk in to Monastir and about 2.5 hrs in to Sousse at a leasurily pace with a buggy. Walking is perfectly safe although there might not be great pavements all the way and you may end up walking on the road at points.
There are small road trains that can take you there quite cheaply.
hi, im going to this hotel on the 7th of novrmber, will the pool be warm also will i be able to swim in the sea.
Hi I think the Temp in november can be a hit or a miss. It averages at 21 degrees in Nov but can drop to 10 degrees at night and be quite breezy. It also rains for an average of 7 days in november. Saying this the temp was always above average when we were there. The pools will be very cold but lovely anyway for a quick dip. The Beach is lovely but i was disapointed with the sea as it was thick with black sea weed that piled over a meter high at the shore line and covered u. It smelled a bit too.(not the hotels fault) The hotel constantly try to clear it with a tractor but it appears quickly again. Lovely sand that goes on for miles though. Lovely hotel with lovely staff too. If you want any more info just ask.
many thanks. was very helpfull.
was at this hotel end oct begining of nov 2010 its a lovely hotel the weather was lovely 1 day it was really windy and 1 day rain the rest was warm the outside pools are freezing but they have an indoor one never went in it but it was always busy only complaint the bar where the entertainment was it was really warm and they dont put the air con on it gets packed and reall y warm there are other bars in the hotel the beach is lovely enjoy yourself we did
I returned to the Sahara Beach earlier this year but (we had to travel via the UK as the irish tour operators don't offer the Sahara Beach from Dublin anymore) but nobody would say what happened but just that the toilets had been changed as a result. Does anybody know what happened to them?
Back in 2009, the toilets were very dark and now they seem to have had a complete make-over!!!
Hoping to go back next summer with the in-laws!!!!!!
bernie2006 wrote:The bars are all nice. We usually go to the piano bar for a drink on the way to dinner as it is closest to the restaurant. Seating is inside and out so if the weather is nice u can sit out. I find the staff all really nice if you are nice to them. We know most of the animation team at this stage but in the summer there are a lot more of them because they have an italian team and a german team. Sem , Nino ,Ahmed,Kamaro,Rico are some of the all year round animation team and are all very hard working.Sem spent a month with us last year in ireland and will hopefully do the same this year.
Hi Bernie 2006,
Just wondering if you are still in touch with the Sahara Beach animation team? I'm trying to get some inormation about the hotel back in 2009, in particular about an irishman who got injured in the toilets beside the creaperie in August 2009 - he suffered a fractured skull and ended up in hospital in Sousse. I was back at the Sahara Beach earlier this year and the toilets have had a complete overhaul due to the accident. Any info would be appreciated.
1) We have 2 family rooms for all 9 of us and I have asked that they be next to each other.
2) I have requested the rooms be on the 5th floor and away from the evening entertainment and the lifts because each family has a 2 year old with them and we would like them to be able to sleep at night.
So far the hotel has failed to answer my email. I have read that they may not answer at all. I won't know the situation about the rooms until we arrive. On the off chance that they have placed us in unsuitable rooms I have read that a bottle of whisky may be a good bargaining tool to help me be relocated to other rooms. I'm not worried about being moved to a superior room. Just suitable for the noise levels for the kids. So is it best to speak to anyone from the management team or reception team in particular to be moved or can anyone of the team arrange it?
Also a quick question about tipping. I was planning on tipping our waiter around £20 at the start of my holiday and tell him if he does a good job looking after us I'd give him the same amount on my last day. I was going to do the same with the maid but give him/her £10 or £15. Is this a good idea or should I wait until I am leaving? I have seen people say if you tip early on then the staff can't do enough for you.
Any help and advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
