make sure you get to airport in time.road works are still not done yet? and the slip road to playa den bossa-don toni/plam baech/ is shut

Monarch and First Choice are still operating the 'Old' way - maybe 3 or 4 desks for a particular flight so getting there before the coaches worked fine with them.

As a word of warning - Monarch were very keen onf luggage allowance - we were 3kg over the 60kg allowance that we had and they wanted 27Euro !

Our transfer driver told me that the roadworks will be finished by the end of June so they won't cause chaos in peak season.

We came back on 4 June with First Choice and there were 5 desks processing 3 flights but we made sure we were there half an hour before coaches and it was only about 20 min check in. I think it's pot luck about paying extra on luggage as the 2 girls at our check in were arguing about charging or not!! Fortunately the people before us were very over the limit and weren't charged so when we were 2kg over my husband commented politely(in fluent spanish) that it would not be fair to charge us so they didn't!! Good luck!

I returned home on the 11th June from Ibiza with Sunset Thomas Cook and they had 4 flights all together in 8 desks. They didn't seem to bother with the weight of the cases if it was not to heavy. We were ok as ours were bang on but others we had met were over but did not get charged.

Yeah we have transfer so that should be ok then. Lets hope we dont get caught up in a bomb scare this year. :yikes

Last year my husband broke his leg 4 days before we were due to go. So i ended up taking 4 kids on my own. Then when we got there we stood in the midday heat because of a bomb scare. Arrr the joys of traveling :tup

We got back from Santa Eulalia last week, and on check-in at Ibiza for the return flight, we were charged for excess luggage.

We were 4kg over (64kg over 3 cases), and were charged 44 euros (11 euro/kg) - we didn't have enough euros left, and only had one small pice of hand luggage, so couldn't transfer anything from any of the cases.

When we told the guy taking the payments that we didn't have enough euros, he said we could pay in sterling, and charged us £40!!

Now, in any exchange rate, surely 44 euro doesn't equate to £40 sterling??

Anyway, as there was a large queue behind us, and we had the sterling, we just paid it - but weren't happy!

hi johnson293, thanks for the warning,so it seems they are really tightening up at ibiza airport now then, that has convinced me to invest in some (digital)luggage scales for sure now, iv'e been dithering as whether to get some for ages!! we are off there in a couple of weeks time. Just done a quick convert and at todays rate 44 euros works out at just under £36 - just shows how much they can make if they do this to others as well eh. i would have paid up like you did rather than hold the queue up. - dotty
