Mr & Mrs Sliema2
Hello ingliza, although I have to wait till July a bit longer than Sliema2 to try a meal at the Il-Merill, it is getting harder to wait and try there food if it is as good as Sliema2 and Trev say it is. Its a bit like waiting for Christmas although me and the wife are of to Barcelona at the end of month, so you could say we are half way there
Thanks for the Il-Merill photo. We look forward to walking through their door again soon!
Trev
Hi everyone, well we went to Il-Merill 3 times out of 4 nights (it's shut on sundays) and the food was absolutely fantastic each and every time, Il-Merill gives every customer free Hobz-biz-Zejt (Maltese bread with tomatoes, oil, capers, garlic and onions) which is really tasty and fresh much nicer than manufactured dry old bread sticks yuk , the steaks were big and tender and served with delicious garlic butter, the bragioli, fenek, fresh fish, and pasta was also fabulous and everything was served with fresh seasonal vegetables and Maltese hobz they also make there own deserts like chocolate mouse and lemon sorbet aswell as fresh strawberries with cream and delicious cakes, and of course they give every holidaytruths member a complimentary drink which was gratefully received, it was a pleasure to see Vince and Mary and all the team again they are always so welcoming and friendly and the restaurant is so cosy iy makes for a great atmosphere, here's to the next time
I am planning to take my wife to Il - Merrill, when we go to Malta in July. Can someone please tell me if children are welcome,as i,m sure my 4 year old son will want to come with us.
Hi Malta b, as you know the Maltese people are very fond of children and as Il-Merill is such a family run friendly restaurant I am pretty certain that your 4 year old will be made most welcome, however as July is almost peak season I would highly reccomend that you book well in advance you can do this by either ringing Vince from the Uk or when you get there, if you need to re:book when you are in Malta you can do this verbally prior to leaving the restaurant, the telephone number for Il-Merill is (00356) 21 33 21 72 or mobile (00356) 9942 0265 hope this helps.
Thanks Sliema 2 for the advice.Yes i think it will be best to pre book.
Your welcome Maltab, just ask if I can help you with anything else.
We had a lovelly meal at il-merill last night and are booked again tonight.
Everything sliema2 has said before about vinces hospitality and food are unquestionable.
I had my first bragioli last evening and what a dish......my taste buds are never going to be the same again.
By the way sliema2 vince says he wont be stocking annisette anymore as he says there doesnt seem to be a demand for it
This charming restaurant is well worth finding and booking at.
Cant wait till this evening
If you go to the maltavista webcam page and find the link to the camera looking over st.julians bay towards the hilton we will give all you people back home a wave on friday evening at 6.00pm uk time.
we are the ones with the big grin on our faces
Hi Alan, really glad that you enjoyed it mate but it doesn't surprise me, tell Vince that I know of two people who are still very keen on drinking huge amounts of Annisette and if he stops stocking it we will just have to bring our own supply .
I had hoped to pesuade Vince and his family to come back to England with us so we could continue to sample his fine food.
Thank you all at Il- merill for two wonderful nights and excellent meals.
My taste buds are in dipute with the rest of my body and are demanding I return to Malta soon.
Alan and Caroline.
thanks Alan hope you are cooking today as its mother's day??? thanks for being in my restaurant and i hope that you and your wife had a good time in malta, hope that next time you get all your family.
