have you tried the Highland Beach Resort they do family rooms and very centrally located in Candolim, we stayed there a few years back and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. We've not stayed at the Magnum but it got quite a few poor reviews last season, however it is centrally located on the main Candolim road but might be a bit noisy if you are in a room near the roadside. Another hotel which Jewel in the Crown do is the Sunshine Park we stayed there 2 years ago, I'm pretty sure they do family rooms as well, it's situated well back off the main road but within walking distance of the centre of Candolim.

Sorry just checked and it is Olympic holidays that do the Sunshine Park not Jewel in the Crown
thanks deb on with it now
haven't stayed at the magnum but have looked around it, wasn't impressed.
We had a look round the Magnum after having not been able to get in there on our required dates and were quite glad we didnt get it. It is quite central though but the rooms are very small and the pool area is tiny compared to where we stay. It all depends on what you want and where you want to be
A couple of my friends love The Magnum, been several times and are going back next January. I've been ,its basic but clean and in a very good place.
We are off to the Magnun for Xmas, as you know the OH likes a good deal and we got a bargain. You can leave me a few bar credits at the Red Lion when you visit in November. We will miss not bumping into you this year. Love to Mrs Roker.

Over the years we have been in many times for a beer, while the women do what the do best ! shopping and shopping.............
Have a good time and I'm sure we will meet up again, not on a professional basis of course
We still make a visit there for a drink or a meal (best korma you can get) and a chat with the same staff.
The rooms have never been the best around, but are acceptable (if the price is right). As for the pool - yeah too small, but ok for a plunge now and again, it's also so enclosed the humidity is high, but all in it looks a nice little set up.
Breakfast is one of the best choices I have ever had.
Spike.
So for a room for 3 I would suggest Highland Beach, we have stayed there twice 2005 and 2006

I would certainly choose the highland beach, a two bedroom apartment comes with two bathrooms, your own balcony each & a shared sitting room, well worth the extra cost when you have a 15 year old to consider.although it is perhaps the biggest hotel, it still has a very freindly feel to it.We have been to the highland beach eight time & never been disapointed. We have booked to go in November for two weeks & three weeks in february, so it must be doing something right. What you have to consider is that India is still third world & please don't go expecting everyhing to be lavish, it may be top notch to the goans, but if you don't go with very high expectations you won't be disapointed. The bird watching in the area is fantastic, we see twitchers all the time with their equipment, infact we bought a pair of binoculars so that we could see some of the delights of the wildlife. As for the night time entertainment, the hotels are not the best, but their is plenty going on outside.Whatever you do, if India's answer to Neil Diamond is playing & they always seem to have him on in the highland beach, give him a miss, although you may want to experiance what a bad x-factor contestand would be like, then please stay for the first song, after that you will proberly have done a runner. Anything else you need to know, please post it on the site.
We were on a flight only in March 08 and were not happy with our 1st weeks accomodation so we started looking round for an alternative for the second week. We looked at 2 rooms in the Magnum they were both dark, damp and dismal. One of the rooms overlooked the main road where the traffic is horrendous night and day constant horns and dust plus pedesrtrian noise. The manager who was showing us round asked us to make him an offer for that room. Needless to say we found somewhere else to stay for our second week. On no account would I dream of staying at the Magnum even for one night. The Highland is another world to the Magnum as are most hotels in that price range.
tiny pool looked dirty as did everywhere around reception and the bar.
there are a LOT of better hotels about.
i wouldnt stop there unless is was the only place left!
karen
I stopped there a few years ago and found the staff great. Only had breakfast there, I thought they were running the place down and I thought I was up for sale a couple of years ago. It's in a good position but there are probably better hotels around.
