Namaste proved to be very flexible as we made several changes along the way and they were happy to requote. One thing we did do was to cut down the time slightly by not staying a last night in Delhi but flying on to Mumbai.
We also upgraded our hotel in Jaipur to a heritage one- Namaste had that as an option. If you are looking at using Namaste I would recommend this upgrade, Living in a part of India's history certainly added to our enjoyment of the tour. We also chose an A/C ambassador car( but got a free upgrade to a 4 wheel drive) A four night/ 5 day tour cost us £359- all hotels, car and guide included in the price. The only problem I had with this is that I was convinced that it was just too cheap- therefore there would be problems. I'm glad to report my fears were unfounded.
I booked internal flights with Jet Airways- Delhi to Mumbai, and Mumbai to Goa return. These cost an average of £50 each. We could have got cheaper flights to and from Goa but weren't too keen on the other flight companies and also Jet had more convenient times for us. In Mumbai we had two nights and a clear day. We needed to plan this and again I was given great info and help on this forum here .
The day finally arrived( 13th October). We set off from Aberdeen mid afternoon after our usual last minute packing.Usual carry on at Heathrow. But we did manage to board the plane on plan. But of course that meant nothing as we sat for 2 hours while they attempted to sort out a 'software problem'. The inflight meal was actually one of the best we have had in a while. I got my first taste of butter chicken- delicious. We had been due in to Delhi at 8am but of course we were later. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the airport. 20 mins after landing we had gone through passport control, picked up our luggage and gone through customs. Ramesh, our driver, was there to greet us. We drove for about 45 mins to our hotel - Singh Sons. See my hotel report here.
By the time we had settled in and freshened up it was midday and we set off on our quick tour of Delhi which included an unexpected extra of becoming tv stars. More to follow.
