Hi,
This year I decided to cut out the middle man and book my holiday independantly. I have booked the Sol Principle Hotel for May 09.
I have heard from some people that the price I was quoted may not be what I will end up paying as some places add on extra taxes when you arrive.
Are these people just raining on my parade or is it true?

I've never heard of additional taxes being charged in Spain and we certainly weren't charged extra when we booked the Torremolinos Beach Club direct. Perhaps someone is getting confused with other countries. In the US, eg an additional 9% is added to the room rate in tax.
However.......... if you are paying on arrival and paying by credit card, make sure that they charge you in euros and not sterling. If they charge you in sterling they will apply their own exchange rate which is not favourable.
To be certain you should email the hotel and ask them to confirm.
