Hi pam,you can no longer fill in the forms by hand, you have to do it on line then print them off,you can then take them into the visa office ,the site you need to do this is vfsglobal.co.uk you can either pay on line or pay cash or card etc.when you take them in.

Hi Pam here is the link to the VFS website where you can fill in your form online.

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/

If you have any problems, just ask! There are lots of people on here who will help you through your application.

Nobody's made it really clear - the online form is just the compulsory way of filling in the form, and when the VFS system 'intelligently' decides that it's fully completed, it makes it available as a pdf that you can be print out. It still has to be printed out and posted or delivered, with all the other documents, to VFS. The fact that the form seems to get uploaded to VFS and VFS sends back a 'file number' doesn't mean that an online application has been made, and doesn't mean that anyone at VFS has looked at it or has started processing an application. And just because the system 'decides' that it's been fully completed doesn't mean that it's been correctly/acceptably completed.

Is this correct understanding?

I never filled any forms online at all. Went to agents which we have used last 5 years on 18th, they filled in forms in office then registered them online which took about 15 mins total time . They go by road to Birm and they said ready for us to collect again from shop on Jan 6th. Not bad with Xmas Hol & new years day in between. Only supplied 2P/Ports & 2 photos and cost £50 each , well worth the extra and no stress at all. ( Extra goes to charity ) Now roll on March 4th :sun2

Had my visa applications returned on Xmas eve, Happy Christmas....NOT!!! The photos weren't 2"x2", we used passport size photos. Took pics on our digital camera and cut them out to size. Fingers crossed, they went off today costing us another £27+ !!! Been travelling to Goa for the last 10 years and never had a visa application returned before. If this application doesn't go through, (flights are booked for 21 Jan) we won't be going on holiday and I can honestly say I won't be booking Goa again.

Hi all, this is probably a stupid question but on the new visa application where it says Education Qualification what do you put for that. I am a legal secretary and my husband is an auxilliary nurse.

Thanks

Reading these two reports suggesting that foreigners can only stay in India for 3 months max, is this the sign of things to come.

I think it may well be!
I have noticed on the VFS website, in one section on information about tourist visas it says a visa for 6 or 12 months may be issued, but on another link it says a visa for 3 or 6 months may be issued.

Our tourist visas are three months. This holiday cannot come fast enough.

Hi jemajo

I have just checked my copies of my visa app and in the qualification box I put 'professional'. Can't remember what the choices are but my visa came back ok.

These 3 month visas have bee out now for 6 months or so, when you apply for your visa you will be issued with either a 3 month or a 6 month depending on how long you are staying in India,People only staying for 2 or 3 weeks will only need a 3 month, just depends what dates and how long and if you want multi trip or single trip . :tup

I wonder how they know this, the new visa form only has a box for date of arrival. May be those that have been given three months had selected single entry?

 just wondering about new visa form as it has not asked me to put an exit port online, but when you print it off there is an empty box with exit port next to it ?? is this for the officials to fill in?
