yep thomas cook is £15 per adult and £8 per child for an inflight meal, thats why I didn't take that option, for all you get its just not worth that amount of money!
Yes same here its funny though because Thomas cook were quoting me £60 for 4 inflight meals even though my 2 kids are 14 and 12, maybe its because they are classed as adults on flight, still don't think its worth it as my kids and other half dont eat them so we just take food on board
thomas want £60 for inflight meals, £30 each
A typo Glynis, that price would give everybody a shock.
Yes I do that too....
it is becoming another waste of money for us to bother with in flight food as OH has been getting really bad at flying and last time I watched as he opened ALL the food then procedded to just chuck it into the plastic waste bag without even having a bite!!! Was it THAT bad!!!!
My last two flights have been long haul, with 2 different airlines, and I have never seen so many people open their bags and produce their own food, despite meals being included in the flight. On each flight the first meal has been a hot meal, and then the second one which they describe as a snack, comes in cardboard box, and is often something like a croissant and a yogurt, or a bread roll and a biscuit!
Even the cabin crew don't eat the food. On the last flight, one of the girls had a pot noodle in her hand!
The trouble is, my next flight will be an early morning take off, which will mean an overnight stay at a hotel at Gatwick, so home made sandwiches may not be an option. Any suggestions for convenient foods? Usually take some pringles, but think I will need to take a bit more next time.
You can get sandwiches in Boots at Gatwick. I haven't had airline food for a few years now and as we normally go to Turkey it is just 3½ hours so I can manage with snacks.
The airline food I have had recently has been fine and I see no change
I often refuse the food these days and take my own, can be a bit difficult though on flights of 12+hours.
I will be flying to Portugal next week with TUI, they don't serve food though unless you pay extra for it. So for me it will be a sandwich prepared at home.

I've ordered a veggie meals as hopefully they'll be more edible!
Traveling back from Morocco with Thomson on Monday, the inflight meal was lovely. We had pasta with pesto & a roll as a starter. Two sausages mashed potato, carrots & peas then, followed by a piece of iced ginger cake as dessert & a cadbury milk chocolate. We were a party of 6, and all of us enjoyed it.
Hubby and I always look forward to the inflight meal. In fact we order it even if we have to pay extra as hubby says a holiday isn't a holiday without it We were with Helen T and agree that our meal on Monday was yummy.
Needless to say I turned this offer down!
Since I was little, me and my family always had and did have an inflight meal, and I just love them, the smell always makes me hungry, and its part of thr holiday...BUT when I booked my holiday in jan with portland you now have to pay per person for them, I said to the operator only me and my sister wants the meals included,, but not my mum..she said we would all have to eat pre book the meals, you have just one or of the party, it has to be all the party for food.so I said forget it, Il be eating at the lovely cafe at T2 Manchester airport, and get a full english, yes its dear I know but I cant stomach sandwiches at 6am in the morning...or crisps for that matter, but Il be having my glass of wine..thats for sure.so no greggs or boots buttie for me, maybe if I wason a later flight then yes but we fly at 6.50am .. Il miss my inflight meals this time...
there is also a burger king at manchester aiport, might get one of there brekkie butties...
with thomas cook this year and know they dont usually make mistakes with who's paid for them or not. i also wont pay to sit together or pick my seat it adds on nearly £100 which is better in our pocket.
it is harder though sorting snacks out for the departure airport in our case the infamous rip off merchants at Dalaman, Most likely get those huge bags of cheetos or lays crisps and have proper meal before we fly.

Also, the 'kebabs' served in hot dog buns at Antalya airport (by checkin) are lovely, not as nice as from shops in resort, but a nice last holiday meal.
Normally I make a huge breakfast as well before we go (normally we have evening flight, have to check in by 1pm) but after my teenager decided to throw up all over the toilet floor at the airport 10mins before boarding I won't be doing that again (though to be fair she hadn't eaten anything).
there not the nicest of meals but they do.
