Speaking with a friend who is a stallholder at what was Ingos market. Ingo called her a few days ago to tell her that he is trying to sett up a night market at Anjuna but he could give her no cast iron time for it happening. She said none of the stallholders she knows had ever heard anything about the Perra one. We had intended being at Ingos tonight but in the present climate and with our complete lack of faith in the police in this area have decided against visiting this week as I suspect many more will Gramps

Hi My friend received an email from Ingo's saying he is opening at Anjuna, but didnt say the exact location and would be emailing again to let people know, but if you already do the other markets dont bother coming to register, cheeky bugger!!! dont think he really knows whats going on just keeping sellers dangling, Mackies is showing no signs of opening.
Friends have said the old Ingo's has good atomsphere but i for one will be giving it a miss in the wake of the Mumbai attack so many rumours going round that Goa is next dont want to risk it and the way my lucks going at the moment best stay indoors :cry

We were told yesterday that there would be no markets tonight because they were the high risk areas . :que

To be honest the police here are as much use as a chocolate fireguard, they cannot even direct the traffic effectively so would good would they really be in a crisis of any sort.
Traffic seems to be going up that way but havent seen alot of tuk tuks with sellers today.
Think if i had more faith in the police and security system i may chance it as i was in London when they hit and that didnt stop me from getting on with life, but here is very different.

Hi,
Personally I don't think the bazaar under the new ownership is worth the effort, the man who owns it now is using all Ingo's stuff and is even trying to use a copy of his logo now that's cheeky! And to top it all he kept the market open this saturday and he's Indian! No respect for his own country, even Tito's stayed shut as a tribute to a hurting country.
I'm waiting for Ingo to open in Anjuna, he's allways been particular about security in all the 8 yrs I know him, if i'm going anywhere this season it'll be there.

When I was there 2 weeks ago I didn't notice one thing different from when Ingo was running it. Will it make any difference?

Personnally I think Ingo is daggling the carrot in front of the sellers and keeping them holding on till either his found a suitable site or the he gets his licence, he has emailed sellers saying he has a place in Anjuna and last friday they should have known where to go but no email, He has been seen having meeting in the dark with Mackie and the local panychyat wont give him a licence hence he hasnt opened.
Ingo also said in his emails if you are doing any other markets dont bother registering!!!!
At the end of the day if everyones happy with the new market why worry!!!

Hi Folks dont know how true this is but according to the locals Mackies is not opening due to still not having a licence and there is rumours that they are trying to close the other Saturday Nite market as they have not complied with the new security regulations the government/police require, metal detectors, cctv, extra security, lights etc etc so gods knows whats going on, they have stated in the paper today any market not compiling with these new regulations will either have their licence revoked or not get one!!!! :que

I suppose at least it shows they are trying to implement security measures

Been told by a number sellers today, that there is no night markets tonight or Anjuna this week, unless they can upgrade there security, was also it the paper today :que

to be honest, that sounds really sensible to me.

The rumours would appear to be true. Have just been out and about and heard that there will be no more markets, for the forseeable future, wednesday or saturday as security cannot be guaranteed. Also heard that there will be no parties or large gatherings allowed over xmas and new year. Just how they are going to deal with so many domestic tourists over the holiday period I can not imagine.
