The area around Alcudia can be notorious for mossie bites! There is a lot of swampy land between Alcudia and Pollensa where the little beggars breed. My family have been bitten many times while in Pollensa and now my wife gets some medication from the doc to take for 2 weeks before we go anywhere where the beasts are. Good job you didnt holiday in Malaysia! :D :D Local chemists in Majorca will sell you "ungüento anti mosquito" whatever you do, DO NOT SCRATCH THE BITE BLISTERS.

Was given some stuff by the chemist when we were in Alcudia a couple of years ago, a 'pen' type thing called "Afterbite" that you just dab on to the bite. Stings a lot initially but soothes the bite better than any thing I have tried previously.

Alcudia is notorious for mozzies due to the lake near Bellevue and the land around Alcudia, as mentioned towards Pollensa but also around Playa du Muro(Alcudia Pins area)

I'm a little cautious that they are mozzie bites.
As the female mozzie bites you, she injects a small amount of saliva at the same time.
This saliva stops any blood meal from clotting whilst it is being syphoned off.
The saliva contains chemicals that makes the body's natural defence mechanism kick in and an "internal war" erupts.....hence the red lumps bumps and the itching.
This reaction would take place rather quickly as the "venom" in the saliva is injected into the body, and it is the chemicals contained in the saliva that produces the itching.

I'm finding it strange that a chemical reaction was not experienced at the time. :hmmm
The spots could be another type of insect, like for example a gnat or midge bite acquired in this country.

Several years ago when we stayed in Cala Egos, I noticed strange lumps on my feet - turned into ovalish blisters - doctor over here reckoned they might be ant bites? Very itchy and have never had them since ....

Could be a possibility?

We too stayed at the lagotel in Playa de muro (Alcudia) and everyone was suffering from mossie bites there.
