This was the first time we went D.I.Y we went with Qatar Air and have to say they were very good more than good I would have to say we booked in on line before we went to the airport and when we got there ..they gave my husband who is a tall fellow exit seats from London to Doha ..Doha to Goa and the same coming back again and not a penny was paid or even asked for ..
The food on the flight was very nice for the first time ever I ate everything they gave us normally I take the lid off look in and say no thanks I will eat my crisps & chocolate we had read on the forum that you get free drinks all the way YES YOU DO but you have to ask for them its not as if they come round asking are you ok for a drink well you know me im not behind the door in asking if there is something I want .
..When we got to the airport in Goa it was not that bad not many porters about so straight out and our taxi man Vijay was there waiting for us bless him he has never once let us down in 5 yrs so if anyone wants his number PM ME ..
Our hotel was the Colonia de Braganza Calangute we got this hotel for the 2 of us for £116 for the 2 weeks so I was not expecting swags and tails I had asked on the forum if anyone had an e mail address and thanks to Goan mad Tony for their e mail address I sent them an e mail and asked for a room on a high floor over looking the pool and asked would it be possible to get into the room at 5.30 am as our flight in to Goa was early in the morning everything I had asked for we got the staff at the hotel were fab nothing was too much for them in the 2 weeks we were there ..
The hotel could do with a face lift to its rooms (esp the bathrooms ) I know we did not pay a lot for the hotel but at the end of the day the truth is the truth .a fresh coat of paint would make such a difference .we did get clean sheets and towels every day our room boy brought us lovely pillow slips and more pillows when we asked for them ..we had a light bulb out when I showed it to him he was back in 2 mins with a new bulb ..our fan was going really slow and I asked at the desk would some one come look at it with in half an hr the man was at the door and put in a new unit on the fan and that made it was 5 times faster than it was when we got to the room ..the hotel is in a great spot very handy to everything and I would deffo go back to the Colonia de Braganza again they also have music on 3 times a week and make a great effort to make everyone who is in the hotel happy ..
Breakfast at the hotel was coffee tea and toast well so we thought until we met a lady who had been there the yr before and told us you have to ask for juice so from the 5th or 6th day it was juice tea coffee and toast I always bring my own jam and buy cheese spread and bananas out there so breakfast does not get boring ...you can get a full English breakfast or eggs what ever way you like them and all at a very small cost ...thats the flights and the hotel covered the truth the way it was warts and all .. Oh forgot to say I did ask for the curtains in the room to be washed they looked to me like they had never been washed for the day the hotel was built again with in 10 mins they were taken down washed and put back up looking and smelling lovely I can not praise the hotel staff enough they were brilliant .We got our flights for £337 and the hotel for £58 each so at just around £400 each I think we done alright for that trip to goa ...COLLEEN

Can't wait to hear more Colleen
Thanks for the link but when I click on it tells me the domain name expired, I cant see any reference to The Colonia de Braganza on there?
Most of the rooms at the Braganza consist of a lounge, kitchen area, bedroom and wet room. The lounge and bedrooms have balconys except a few on the ground floor, we prefer the first or second floor, the top floor can get a bit hot at this time of year
The rooms overlooking the pool areas tend to be a bit brighter in the day time but are nearly 4' smaller than the back rooms due to the stairs.
I think you are best to wait until you get there and if you don't like your room ask to look at a few of the others. Saddly David the manager for the last nine years left last week so I can't give you his number but the staff on reception and the room boys are very good, so if you have any problems just tell them.
