Hi Colleen, cant tell you how relieved I was when I heard you were safe and sound, you and Irishman were in my mind the whole time as we watched the situation unfold on TV.
I am sorry we didnt get to meet this time, hopefully next holiday
I am too now waiting for the next instalment
Cx
We also got a choice of rooms but just accepted the first one, we were in the annex, but didn't get a wide screen TV.
After a good night's sleep we were up bright and early next morning when we left our room there was a newspaper hanging on the door it was good to get the paper everyday while we were there we went down for breakfast it was very nice just tea coffee toast and jam's if you wanted eggs it was a little extra same price as we had paid for eggs in the beach shacks back in Goa .
After breakfast we went out to see mumbai in the day light it was unbelievable and so busy so many people going to work the traffic was mad and the sound of car horns was everywhere......we walked along the road there was street sellers selling tea sellers selling just about everything you name it it was on sale .
we went to the David Sassoon library
we passed some lovely buildings along the way we passed a lovely water fountian and garden area....we called in to a museum I think it was the prince of wlaes ( but not sure )
this is some of the nice things we seen on our way as we went looking for the gateway of india
it was not very far at all I was surprised how close we were to everything when we got there the Taj hotel was the most beautiful building I had ever seen and could not wait to go inside
as you can see in the next photo before you go in you have to go through a security type metal detector like you would see in the airport when we went inside I went to the reception desk and asked can we look around and take some video of the hotel she said yes no problem and off we went to look around
we went all round the hotel we went in to the famous Gazdar jewellers.....we went in to a few shops and went to look at the glass case with pictures of all the famous people in the world who have stayed at the Taj hotel ...we had a walk round the pool and later learned that princess Eugine (sp) had been at the hotel around those dates who knows she may even have been there at the time it said in the local papers that all she did was sit by the pool I must get my video out and have a look
when we went outside I got my photo taken with a lovely gentleman who you can see in the picture above and all I can think is ..is the poor man and the man who is searching the bags now dead as I know the first people who were killed on the night of the terrorist attack were the door staff and 17 members of staff who were on the reception desk perhaps the nice girl I asked can we have look around was one of them too .
That night we just ate in our own hotel the food was very good and the staff were all so nice after dinner we went out looking for an offsales it is very hard to find one in mumbai but being irish we found one and went back to the room for a night cap it had been a long day so we went to bed early ...............I hope you all enjoy reading this sorry it is so long ............colleen

thanks colleen, i realy enjoyed reading that,
Good report Colleen looking forward to a lot more
Looking forward to the rest of your report, i know it cant be easy, and its very good of you to write it. Gel
Its brilliant Colleen, love reading about peoples adventures.
That part at the end about the door man is so so sad. It makes the event that bit more real and personal seeing a picture of someone that was murdered in cold blood for such an un just cause. Has really made me sad
I agree. It must be so difficult to know that someone you saw was murdered. I think that would have a huge impact. It is something most of us just saw in the news- different for those who really can think it might have been them. I'm not sure how I would have coped it with it.
It would be great if you could review the Residency for us. Its good to find a hotel with reasonable accomodation that does not cost the earth in Mumbai.
Hi fiona have just finished review on residency it has,nt appeared yet dont know how long it takes.
I've just approved it. Thanks John

Looking forward to the rest of your report and I hope that by putting your experience into words helps to reconcile the experience.
Really sad about the possible death of the man you have your pic with. So pleased that you were safe and sound and managed to complete your holiday.
Do you feel up to giving us a little bit more Colleen?
