Wife wants to do Thailand and Hong Kong - we've been to Thailand (Bangkok & Phuket) several time before but we've never been to Hong Kong, for some reason I suspect it's going to be expensive (not bothered about the hotel price but the cost of doing and buying things and eating while we are there) but I could be wrong - could any recent visitors give me any advice.
TIA
Rob.
We stayed for a few days last Sept and we did have one expensive meal (we'd planned a special, money no object meal, and it was in a posh restaurant so not typical). We had pre-dinner cocktails, a 3 course meal with wine and after dinner drinks and it cost us £170.
After looking through my statements where we paid with debit card - other costs were brunch £18, Indian meal with beer £35, drinks & snacks in a bar £23, Italian meal with £55, drinks (all night in the same place) £37, Japanese lunch £27.
Snack food is quite cheap.
We found debit/credit cards widely excepted, even in a bar we frequented so it saved carrying loads of cash around.
Hope that helps a bit.
The most expensive thing we found was beer and wine- incredible prices in some places, but food in small restaurants and markest is relatively cheap. We had a blow out meal as well while we were there but like I said its the alcohol that was dear.
