I was thinking of getting a prescription for some daily disposables done before i come in March.
I hate my glasses if i fancy a swim in the pool and also contacts mean i can wear nicer sunglasses I was thinking however that it might be too dusty and with the heat that contacts might be a bit of a pain. So anyone who wear contacts please advise.
I always wear daily disposables on holiday and have never had any problems in Goa.
Thanks claire
They might be a lot cheaper in Goa, glasses are !

I don't wear mine in the day but wear them in the evening and have had no problems. They are cheaper to buy in Goa. My optician in England said she wouldn't even bother giving me a price but just to buy them in Goa. She said they can't compete on price. Have bought contact lenses and glasses in Goa for the last 8 years and never had any problems.
I agree with Brenliz - I do the same and am thinking about getting another pair of prescription sunglasses this year for the daytime if they're still as cheap as they were 2 years ago (I got the last pair in Romano's in Calangute). The money I saved buying the contact lenses virtually paid for the glasses
At the end of the day im paying for my test i shouldnt have to buy my specs there if i dont want to.
I just told them I usually buy them in Goa as it is cheaper. It is up to them to reduce their prices if they want your business. As mentioned, when my optician asked me where I got my last glasses and lenses from they didn't even try and sell me any, they admitted they couldn't beat the prices in Goa. I have in the past just told them I don't have time at the moment to look at the frames or I want someone with me for a second opinion which is actually true. I can't see a thing without my glasses! Got mine this time from Dangui in Calangute - £79 varifocal, scratch resistant and photocromic lenses. Best price ever.
10 years ago Ibought specs from an optician which I think was on the way to Mapusa but i can't remember what it was called or exactly where it was.
I'm also after some photocromic variofocals and that sounds a brilliant price
On Calangute High Street, virtually opposite the market entrance towards the end near the roundabout on the left hand side, next to the Bank as you are going towards Candolim.
Excellent - thank you for that BrenLiz
I wear my dailies, all day and at night time too in Goa, and have no probs at all
HI
Just a note, I have bought glasses in Goa, but they fitted a VERY wrong prescription, but wearable until I started getting headaches. My optician ( a friend) said to buy the frames in Goa and get the lenses done in England. Has anybody else had this?
The problem with buying frames elsewhere is not many UK opticians will just fit you lenses. They make most of there % on the frame and are reluctant to add lenses to frames that havnt been purchased from them.
I always get my test done in England but buy my glasses/contact lenses in Goa and have never had any problems. Done this for over 10 years.
What MazD says is also true, I bought frames over in Goa that were very similarly shaped to ones purchased in the UK so that I knew that I could get lenses to fit the frame without reducing the magnified field of vision. (Sorry can't explain it better than that). I know that some frames are better suited to particular lenses than others; for instance, I wanted the very lightweight flexi unbreakable frames (because of my job) but I couldn't have them as my particular lenses would not have fitted.
If anyone can explain this better - please do
Fizz
