We were there in November, Mama was on Baga beach, if it was the same one(surely there can be only 1) we were told that she makes much more than the other fruit sellers put together purely because people feel sorry for her.

She is very persistant!
We have bought off Poonam in the blue shirt for years she is such a loverly girl. She got married in May 2004 and told us she wouldn't see us again, but she is having probs living with the inlaws, so has decided to get out of the way and sell on the beach! Go girl!

She was there last Jan/Feb, patrolling the beach around Stringfellows and Rhada shacks.
She seemed fine but did seem to enjoy the rest on your sunbed whilst cutting up the fruit.. !!

mama is the grupiets of the grumpiest fruit sellers and quite cheeky with it sometimes. I always see her in Baga, but i think quite a few of them call themselves Mama too.

That looks like mama to me Fiona cheers, however she used to be more on the beach at candolim than baga when i was there. Im sure some relative of hers owned one of the shacks.

Hi

That is not the mama I know, but there are a couple of women call themselves Mama.

I'm going back in March and will tell you how she is.

The "Mama" I know has been selling fruit from her heavy basket on the Candolim/Sequerim beach for the last 12+ years at least. Normally in the area of Bob Marley and Sea Waves shacks. She is somewhat challenged in the dental region and is now starting to look her age, (whatever that is?) She also seems to have developed a slight tremor and sadly gets slower each season, she always remembers her regulars. It's always a pleasure to see her and is one of those sights that tells you that you are back!!!!! She was definately there in December, I'm back to Goa on 17/3 and will hopefully be able to post a sighting report on my return.

That one is obviously the (Baga Mama)! judging by the backdrop. It would take our Candolim/ Siquerim Mama best part of a week to walk the length of the beach with her basket on her head! She normally patrols in the area of beach off the stern of River Princess.
