don't know if its changed again but Jan when we were there Spain had bought in a smoking policy where bars etc either went smoking or non smoking at that time more bars had the smoking sticker than the no smoking sticker

I thought Spain brought in a no smoking in bars and restaurants ban last Sept? At least in Southern Spain I'm sure they were, would this be different?

we were there last june and people were smoking in a restuarant we were in, maybe it has changed now, soon to find out in less than 6 weeks!!!!

I have just googled the smoking in Spain and this is part of what I read : Quote: In general, smoking is now banned in public and private workplaces, health facilities and schools, indoor sports facilities, recreational and leisure facilities, and places where food is produced, prepared or sold. Apparantly this came into force on new years day this year.

one thing I've always noticed is how many of the Spanish teenagers smoke!
Is it because the fags are cheap?

The restuarant we went to wouldn't let you smoke inside but you could if you were at their outside tables. Also we were allowed to smoke in our hotel room. Tere was no ashtray but the recepionist said that we were in the smoking part of the hotel so it was ok and got us an ashtray. There is smoking on the streets obviously so it really is just inside pubs etc.

Just got back from Salou yesterday. The ban works like it does around the rest of Spain - yes they have brought in a smoking ban but many of the bars have a sticker which says you can smoke in them anyway. It seems to have been a matter of choice for the bars. We didn't find a problem anywhere.
