If you mean do they speak in funny accents like wot they do up in Blackpool then no.... that's Arabic wot they are talking wiv...
Phew.....we like going somewhere a bit different, recently done thailand india, haven't got so many pennies this time so thought egypt or morocco would be good but read a few posts about Mcdonalds, english bars etc which put me right off. Cheers for the reply
There are Egyptian restaurants as well. Also there are other 'resorts' such as Taba, Marsa Alam, Nuwebia, Dahab, Hurgharda etc. I would say that there are many places that are more commercialised than the Red Sea resorts.
..and lots of shisha pipes and a smell that is wonderful, exotic and impossible to describe..you can't get that in blackpool!!
well there are neon palm trees, fairy lights and lots of tourists....
And...............the majority of Egyptian people are so friendly, kind and generous, that after 15 years of them I still cant believe it!
It will be hard to find an English Geezer anywhere in Egypt, most are European with a few English thrown in, a completely different world to your average seaside resort.
Nothing like Blackpool-----------Naama Bay is very busy, lots of bars, cafes , restaurants etc But if you head into Old Sharm although iit's busy, maybe a bit more "traditional", alot of really good egyptian restaurants. We loved it!
No full english breakfasts....
No Kiss me quick hats....
No English pubs.....
No drunken yobs.....
No penny arcades....
No litter/chip wrappers blowing around....
Basically it's very different....thank god!
Just because theres a Macdonalds in Sharm doesnt mean its like Blackpool.Theres Macdonalds all over the world and the first time I went in one was in Singapore!.Sharm is wonderful and whilst Naama bay is the busy part of the resort it is nothing like Blackpool.
Thanks guys. I was generalising when I said "is sharm like blackpool"....the reports are mostly fantastic but the odd one kept mentioning the fact there was a mcdonalds, kfc, hard rock cafe etc. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't like Magaluf! It looks fantastic and just up our street, having recently visited thailand and india we need something that will give us the same wow factor but a lot cheaper and Egypt looks like the place.
Nothing like blackpool at all - in fact a world apart from blackpool!
Don't go to Sharm for fish and chips.......don't go to Blackpool for sun !
ah but you get a healthy glow when you swim in the sea at blackpool ,its called sellafield green glow ,mind you it helps when you have a power cut
You'd love it.
We only had a day there (cruise ship) but were going back in Nov for 2 weeks it was so stunning, and the sea is the nicest ive ever seen.
I was worried about that too as I am from Blackpool and I would have hated a home from home holiday
However, Naama bay is now a very busy resort that caters for many British, Italian and Russian tourists. You will get invited into numerous restaurants by the people outside. I feel Sharm is now more akin to an international resort that you could find anywhere in Beach Europe. Its a very grown up (over the last 15 years) resort that is streetwise to the tourist trade.
Other than that and the bus stop, Naama bay is lovely with lots of different music and singers.
