We (2 couples) are going to Kho Samui end March for 2 weeks. We are looking to visit a few of the islands around there - has anyone got any recommendations or tips on the best way to get to them.
My son has been to Ko Tao but says it is mainly for divers and as it takes so long to get there it is not so good a place to go.
We don't mind staying overnight but I have to admit i'm not that good a sea traveller so would balk at 5-6 hrs on a boat!
Apart from Koh Tao there is Koh Phangan.Have a look at info here.It would take 45 minutes from KS- from Bophut pier or Nathon.

Have travelled to Ko Tao from Samui on speedboat...is an OK journey when sea is calm, totally different matter when sea is rough. There is an island just off Ko Tao - Koh Nang Yuan which some day trips go to..it was literally inches off the beach to great snorkelling. There is also a resort on the island...used mainly by divers but can be used for a nights stopover. I see it takes 1hr 45mins to get to Koh Tao on high speed catamaran which might be a comfier ride than speedboat.
