Hi Ian

I've been permanently logged in for a few days now!

And I'm off on 9th December to Kapparis... which is NOT closed

I have made the suggestion that a message be sent out to all members to the effect that the auto loggin had been re-instated. This has not happened.

I also intimated that they had found a novel way of killing off the forum.
I sincerely hope not!!

I hadnt even bothered witht the auto login. I'll try it next time I come in.

I have never used automatic login anywhere, even on my own PC. I always thought it a bit risky but perhaps I'm being paranoid about security.
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean that they're not out to get me.

It strange this because until today my auto log in has still worked, but this morning I had to find my password again, a real pain as it is one that was sent via HT and it is a series of numbers and letters, as I use many web sites so I can never remember this one...

Regarding it being quiet on Cyprus HT site because it is the end of the season maybe true maybe not, my web site is busier than normal so I cant see this being the problem, for sure logging in every time will put some off and that is a shame, but if the owners and moderators think this is really necessary then so be it, it is there decision, I certainly hope members will return as I always enjoy reading and posting on HT..

By the way the weather in CY has been lovely over the last three weeks (and still is!!) clear skies reasonable temps and cool enough now to sleep well at nights, great time of the year to visit!!

You shouldn't have to log in everytime, this was altered a few weeks back.

I've always had to log in ?????

You should be able to tick the box where it says "log me in automatically when I visit" and then that should work.

The phrase that includes the words stable, door, horse and bolted springs to mind.

Ok Mark - you've made your point.

This site always goes quiet at this time of the year, after the new year it usually picks up again when folks start to think about their holidays.

The last time I posted which was in October, general enquiry about the weather etc, ie trying to create some dsicussion etc, this post was promtly put into the weather section with the 600 and odd comments which has been discussed over the time the forum had been running. So in effect, if you wanted an answer to the post you had to trawl through. :? N o Thanks

So if this is the case why bother theres plenty of other Cyprus forums out there. :D

Its a shame really because there used to be some good discussion on here about this wonderful island.

Wanderer.........I believe the mods do this to cut down on the duplicate posts about the same questions. A good example earlier this year was the amount of Qs regarding weddings......the Cyprus board was awash with loads of similar posts. I for one was glad when a seperate section was set up for these questions.

It's really then up to the individual to use the "search" function in the relevant board and look for what they want. I find this works perfectly fine for me.

Miss_Chief 1........... The whole point of a forum is to discuss things in general and have a "bit of banter" like this. Yes you can use the search button, but I would imagine every question which could be asked would have been covered before in some guise or another if you want to find it, we can all do that.

We all try to contribute to the forum and create discussion but if we searched for everything what would be the use of the forum ? :?

This forum has given me great information over time that I have been aware of it but if some of the questions are going to be condensed into large sections it is not going to be as user friendly as it was.

Anyway at least we are all talking today!

I can see it from both points , it probably keeps things tidier and saves space on the server, but like you I get annoyed when postings get moved to other sections, I feel I dont want to trawl through postings relating to other countries when all my interests are with Cyprus.
I dont mind seeing repeat questions regarding weather, resorts, flights, and so on , if folks dont want to answer they dont. I did think the wedding section was a good move though. :) all the years i have been logging on to this site, the Cyprus threads do dip at this time of year.

I'm all for moving duplicate postings so long as they are in the same area, i.e; the Algarve forum or the Cyprus forum so long as the original post is fairly recent.

I only visit the Cyprus forum on Holiday Truths. I have various other forums to visit, so don't want to have to trawl through irrelevant posts about flights to elsewhere to see if any are relevant to my field of interest, Cyprus.

If someone posts a thread on flights to Cyprus or the conditions/facilities at Larnaca/Paphos airports in the Cyprus Discussion forum it ought to be left there.
The fact that there is already a duplicate thread in the Flight Only/Airline and Airports section should have no bearing. The poster put it in Cyprus for a reason.

I have given and gleaned some excellent information fron this forum and, hopefully, will continue to do so!
