Can anyone please suggest a decent self catering or AI hotel (all depends what deal I can get) for end January beginning February. Looking for somewhere with decent pubs and restaurants for night and somewhere to do a bit of sightseeing trips during the day.
Went to Caleta De Fuste Fuertaventura this year glad I only went for a week, too quiet and trips were too dear.

GC is a fab place, have been going there for the last 10 years or so, and never get fed up of going there. Accomodation depends on whether you are family with young children (then AI would be good for you) SC we prefer as there are so many places to eat and not to expensive, Maspalomas is fab, peaceful and relaxing, and within easy access of Maspalomas Beach and PDi about 3-4 euros in a taxi. Can recommend 2 really nice complexes which is where we always stay is the GREEN GOLF and SANDY GOLF opposite the golf course, take a look at their pics on thomson and http://www.cordialcanarias.com

Firstly, do you have an idea of which resort you may prefer?
PDI is more international, especially during winter months, also the weather can be a little cooler. However, it certainly has nightlife and a very wide choice of bars, restaurants and hotels/Apartments. PDI is the second largest holiday resort in Europe (after Benidorm), if that gives you an idea on size. All the shops and bars are in 20 odd smaller commercial centres, the main ones being Yumbo, Kasbah, Gran Chapperrel and Aguila Roca.
Its nice and central to getting out around the island, and really has a little bit of something for everyone
Puerto Rico/Amadores have plenty to choose from accomodation wise, and like PDI the nightlife is split into commercial centres.. The main one at the bottom of the valley, Europa at the top, Paserella on the Harbour,Amadores at Amadores. It is a little further away from the Capital, Las Palmas but about 20 mins, and is definitly more compact. The views are stunning but with that, means you have hills and steps (alot of steps
) to deal with but Taxis and buses are easy. Two nice beaches, and plenty to explore from the harbours, such as Dolphin and Whale watching, fishing diving etc.
Ive not mentioned a few other resorts as by your OP they may be to quiet, but there are a few more to choose from, Bahia Feliz,San Augstin,San Fernando and Maspalomas near PDI. Taurito,Mogan further past Puerto Rico.
Both resorts offer good nightlife, there are also alot of night shows, Las Vegas Legends @the Casino. Garbos @ Bahia Feliz. Lots to see and do around the island too. The crater at Bandama, the capital Las Palmas (history & shopping!) and the stunning views across the island to Tenerife from Rouqe Nublo, i could go on for days!
Price for a week self catering can go from 220 quid up, for AI from about 500 up, and thats if you go package MASSIVE savings can be had booking independent if you get lucky
