Just back from Benidorm early this morning, what a wonderful time we had! Stayed at the Hotel Princesa....will post a review in the relevant hotel section (if anyone is interested).
Visited Terra Natura, Aqua Natura, Valor Chocolate Factory, Mundomar, La Marina Shopping Centre, the beach (!)..plus load more. If anyone needs to know anything, just let me know! Will be glad to oblige.
Christina x
Pleased you had such a good time, I look forward to reading your review!
10 weeks to go for us, what was the visit to the Valor Chocolate factory like?
Who did you book with? We have a teenager going with us this time, and I think she may enjoy it! TIA, Linda x
Hi Linda! We booked the whole holiday through Direct Holidays and the trip to the chocolate factory was booked through our rep at the hotel. It was amazing value, I thought. (I think it was about 12 euros for me, and 8 for my daughter). It included travel to nearby Villajoyrosa (spelling?!) with an hour at the lovely quiet beach, a trip to the outdoor market there (which is worth a visit) and then travel to (and entrance) to the Valor factory. You got shown a video on the history of the factory, a quick tour round the small museum, a walk through the factory (which they keep at a VERY warm temperature because of the chocolate!), quick tasting session (yummy!) and a chance to buy chocolate at discount prices (which i can guarantee you, its about one third of what they were charging at the airport!). My 10 yr old loved this trip, she said the factory reminded her of the original WillyWonka film!
Sounds good Christina, we will certainly give this one a try. Thankyou so much for the reply..... ....Linda x
I could be wrong but i am certain you can go to the chocolate factory on one of the free trips they give away, they are always outside the Pelicanos/Ocas every day with the leaflets i think you have to sit through a 3/4 sales talk though but worth it to get a free trip.

Hi Rose
No you're not wrong, they do offer blanket trips which include a visit to the chocolate factory.
Toscana Tours have a "Grand Tour of Villages", which includes the health products presentation, then from their presentation premises in La Nucia to Finestrat (the village not Cala Finestrat) and on to Villajoyosa, where you can take a stroll around the old quarters, and finally they take you to a prestigious chocolate factory, where you have the opportunity to sample and buy the products.
Sanjiiiiiiiiiiii
Thanks for that Rose and Sanji, I will look out for the leaflets..... Linda x
Never mind.
We went to the Chocolate Factory on a Blanket Trip. As long as you can sit through the sales talk it's a good free day out.
There are lots of people with leaflets as you go from the Flamingo Oasis to the beach.

hey what was the weather like??? is it getting busy over there?
just back today 6hrs sleep in 4days i am nackered what a brill time. never seen any bother hookers pickpockets or out in all the time i was there and i walked most streets and allyways myself at all hrs of the night from the squre right along to the hotel royal .hotel was the best i have stayed in will do a report later when i have had some sleep but just to let people know that benni is still alive and kicking and i think it is still cheap to eat and drink .was on stag do (out with black shirts with pink wrighting on and i am 45 ha ha ha) i have now seen the other side of benni and i thought it was good everone seamed to get on with oneanother even at 7am when full of drink seen no hassle atall all weekend might go back again with wife and child in august cause we all love benni .had a loverly pizza along the far end of calle gerona cant thik of the name but a lot of spanish ate there in fact when we came out familes were waiting to get in it was good will say more later
Best Regards - Taggy
PS...Mind you i'm assuming by far end of Calle Gerona you meant Old Town end, but with you staying at The Royal, you might mean the other end, in which case its probably Mariano's
that was it cheers taggy mind only had a maggarita pizza you cant go wrong with that yes my hotel was right next to the old town ifact if you come out turn left about 50yrds you whent over the bridge that runs over the av meditranio and right straight down past the red lion and you was on the start of the calle gerona so had the best of both worlds
Are there any particularly good bars you'd recommend in Benidorm? My father is off there for a short lads' trip later this year. That kind of Spanish resort really isn't my cup of tea but I'm pleased you had a wonderful time.
Eternal theres loads of bars look at the bars thred it will tell you about them more
I don't know where all the gypsies have gone, perhaps they're on their holidays. I only saw one begger and no potato men at all.
Went to see Westlife and the Beni Beatles, both really good.
The Malibu bar had a sign up saying that all their artists were on holiday until September which I thought was a bit strange. It was still open but I never saw a sole in there when ever I passed. We went to the Triangle several times and had some really good nights.
Visited Mundomar and Aqualandia with the discount tickets. In Aqualandia, you save €14 per person. It's €11 instead of €25, a massive saving.
I managed to get hold of a load of them (aqua) so if anyone wants one for personal use then please p.m. me, each one admits up to 4 people. Unlike some others, there will be no charge.
I will post about the Dalmatas when I've got more time.
Sue
I know Dot and Harrys bar (now something else I can't remember)...up from the Square, along from the Primavera Dos and Pueblo used to close for the summer season and re-open in September when the grey brigade returned
[Does the Malibu cater for the 'older crowd'?/quote]
Well I think that it was Taggy who recommended it so yeh, I'd say that they do cater for the "older ones."
Sue
They do cater for the over 21's yes Sue!!!! Funny that they've knocked off the entertainment completely till Sept, but they do usually do better in Winter Time because that when the over 21's are mainly there!! Ha Ha!! The same acts that appear in Malibu are at various other places around the resort including Triangle and Cellar Bar. Dene Michael who sometimes does solo spots there is at The Town in The Elderley Bros and Shoewaddywaddy. Did you not get chance to see the "We Will Rock You" show at Rockerfellas Sue? Really good that, check it out next time you are there! I might be offline for few days now, off to Lincolnshire for a few days!
