We arrived back on Wednesday after having a fantastic week.
We used Costa Blanca Private transfers run by a guy called David Gutteridge formally of Prestige Tours as he's very reasonably priced and is always 100% reliable and as usual he was waiting for us when we arrived and we were soon in Benidorm. I stayed for 3 nights with my family and then had 4 nights at The Sol Pelicanos. My friends stayed at the Pelicanos for the full 7 nights and had a few problems when checking in.. too long to go in to detail but it was quickly rectified. They were filming around the pool whilst we were there, as well as the usual cast, we also saw Tim Healy and Denise Welsh on a balcony and Kerry Katona knocking about too.
We seemed to do so much in a week.. I feel like I need a week off to recover.
We saw the fabulous Deb n Her at the Tropical Bar and they were even better than the last time I saw them.. lovely girls too... they are so down to earth. Met Taggy and Waldo for the 1st time in there but I gave up on Waldo as I couldn't understand a word he was on about lol.
We also saw Take That at Cafe Benidorm, who were ok but it was absolutely heaving in there and I've never tasted such a disgusting G&T in all my life.. Serves me right for getting the local one instead of the international brand.. I only got it because they were on 2 for 1.. I learnt my lesson as it really was undrinkable!!
We saw the Cabeytu Brother for the first time, they were on at the Jail Rock bar and I must say that they were absolutely amazing.. I would recommend them to young and old.. they are so versatile and really got the audience going, they play every night except Wednesday at the moment, too young for me but 2 very sexy guys lol
We also enjoyed Boyzone at Stardust's, I recognised one of them from the Westlife tribute, yeh they were very good too. I remember reading on here that Stardusts was very expensive but I didn't find that.. I was drinking branded Gin and Tonic which was only 4.50.. Quite reasonable I thought for a cabaret bar.
We did the meal and show at the Benidorm Palace.. 45 euro's for 3 courses, half a bottle of wine and a glass of cava.. The show was really good as usual. I especially liked the 3 strong guys who are painted in gold.. their strength is beyond belief.. really breath taking.. again a top night..
We ate all over the place and didn't have a bad meal..
Las Dunes on the front, The Magic Roundabout, The Mistral steak house, China Garden (twice) but my favourite was Hof Van Holland where we went on my brothers birthday and then on to The Bodhran to see Brendan Murray who's a great vocalist.
I wouldn't recommended The Amstrella bar on the front.. we went twice to try and eat.. we wanted the set menu but they were so busy watching the football they said it wasn't on.. we pointed out that the board was still outside and they said that it was at their discretion and that they could finish it anytime between 5pm and 10pm.. on one of the occasions we asked when we walked in and they said they were still doing it so we had a drink and when they brought the menus they denied it so we walked out.. We won't be going there again!!!
Really enjoyed the meet up at Uncle Peds, it was lovely to see everyone and to personally thank them for been so helpful over the years.
Oh we also went to Mundomar which was great as always especially now they have the mere cats too!! The dolphin show has changed a bit, they no longer have the synchronised swimmers but we still enjoyed the shows. We had the good discount tickets so for the 6 of us, we paid 48 euros but the full price would have been 140 something, an amazing saving!!
I picked up some more Aqualandia vouchers in the Mundomar shop so give me a shout if anyone wants any.
Got picked up at 10.30am on Wednesday and despite the air traffic control strike in France, arrived back in the U.K on time to the cold weather.. Brrrr!!!
Oh just one last thing.. I didn't see anything untowards going on in Benidorm.. i.e muggings, potato men or even Gypsies this time and we were out at all hours of the night.
All in all a great holiday.. Roll on next time..
Good report Sue, it sounds as if you had a good time, I doubt we shall be doing as much when we go in a couple of weeks, don't think I would last out .....Caz
David
Wow Sue, it made me feel tired just reading it! You certainly packed a lot in, lol. Thanks for sharing your week with us, and really pleased you had a fab time again.....
great review and some good advice, thanks.
Sounds like you had a fantastic time!
We too saw the Cabeytu Brothers in July and thought they were brilliant, unfortunately, we arrived a little too late to see the whole of their set. Would love to see them again though.
You've set me off now Sue, think we're going to have to return AGAIN next Summer, if not before!!!
Best regards
Elaine
Sorry I couldn't stay longer, but the parents cramped my style a bit. I have loved to abandon them and stay out with everyone all night. Sadly, being the designated driver cramps my style a bit.
Lol pebbles well theres always the next time we had a great night a few went to the carousel after uncle peds and then we all went to see who we had planned to see .But yes it was nice to meet everyone mazza
