Got back on the 14th August from a brilliant holiday in Turkey. We were a little apprehensive as our first time in turkey and hotel was booked at short notice because our original holiday was to Bulgaria but hotel we booked still under construction. However we needn't have worried. The hotel, Although the official rating was 2 star was A1. Air conditioning payable on arrival worked well. Apartment was spacious and very clean. Cleaned daily with fresh towels.Maids made a beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers on the bed with the towels arranged in hearts on one day. Obviously do this for all guests as there was 12 of us in party and we all had this.
The hotel is positioned between Gumbet and Bodrum giving you the best of both worlds. Gumbet is a little tacky and a bit like Blackpool but great for teenagers. Great during the day. Beach narrow and shingle but free sunbeds with thick mattresses and big cushions and hammocks everywhere. If you sit by Cozzy bar there is a great pool you can use with a jacuzzi and swim up pool bar. Also good reasonably priced water sports.
The Parrot restaurant is definately to be recommended we went back 3 times. Good food ,good service and gorgeous head waiter called Franko, who will entertain kids with tricks.
The walk back up the hill to hotel is hard going but you could get a taxi but as there was 12 of us we walked!!
Bodrum is a bit more chic! Great shopping, excellent fakes- t shirts ,bags, shoes, watches. Bring loads of money and buy a cheap fake sports bag to bring it all back in. We had great fun bartering. Market day Tuesday. Go later in the day less busy and cheaper. Dolmus runs from hotel every 10 mins. 24hrs
Would reccomend Ali Baba Restaurant at the harbour, good food and extremely reasonable prices. On Saturday night Bodrum is absolutely heaving couldn't even get down bar street but it is well worth a visit .
Lastly you must have a Turkish bath at the start of your holiday preferably. Would reccomend the authentic haman by the bus station in Bodrum.
Can't wait to go back to Turkey. Had a brilliant time
