The hotel is positioned between Gumbet and Bodrum giving you the best of both worlds. Gumbet is a little tacky and a bit like Blackpool but great for teenagers. Great during the day. Beach narrow and shingle but free sunbeds with thick mattresses and big cushions and hammocks everywhere. If you sit by Cozzy bar there is a great pool you can use with a jacuzzi and swim up pool bar. Also good reasonably priced water sports.
The Parrot restaurant is definately to be recommended we went back 3 times. Good food ,good service and gorgeous head waiter called Franko, who will entertain kids with tricks.
The walk back up the hill to hotel is hard going but you could get a taxi but as there was 12 of us we walked!!
Bodrum is a bit more chic! Great shopping, excellent fakes- t shirts ,bags, shoes, watches. Bring loads of money and buy a cheap fake sports bag to bring it all back in. We had great fun bartering. Market day Tuesday. Go later in the day less busy and cheaper. Dolmus runs from hotel every 10 mins. 24hrs
Would reccomend Ali Baba Restaurant at the harbour, good food and extremely reasonable prices. On Saturday night Bodrum is absolutely heaving couldn't even get down bar street but it is well worth a visit .
Lastly you must have a Turkish bath at the start of your holiday preferably. Would reccomend the authentic haman by the bus station in Bodrum.
Can't wait to go back to Turkey. Had a brilliant time
sounds like you had a wonderufl time, have to agree ali baba's on the front is a fantastic place!
I remember the views across bodrum were stunning - even more so at night.
Agree with you about Gumbet but OK for the occasional late night dance ! .
Have you been to Bulgaria or was it to be your 1st time there ? - how did Turkey compare ?.
Toffeemen
hi toffeemen No we have not been to Bulgaria. Have you? Must admit we were glad that we didn't go and decided on Turkey as we have heard so many bad things about it. Turkey was great.
josiebowe - no - never been to Bulgaria - from what I have been told it has nice beaches etc but lacks some of the Turkish charm !.
I woluld happily go back to Turkey. But other family that we are going with thought it was too hot. So we are trying to think of somewhere suitable/ We will have 2 14 yr olds with us and 2 11 yr olds. If you have any sugestions let me know. I thought about Gran canaria as we havent been there before.
hi could anybody telle me if they have been there and what it is like as i am going there in less than five weeks and just a bit worried that it may not have a good standard?
