Looks like you had a good time? It would be nice to hear a bit about what you thought
We're after 2 weeks of hassle & noise free to relax and do very little except eat, drink, sleep.
Would appreciate as much feedback as possible!
Thanks...Matt
I would highly recommend veligandu, we went also in July, The resort is small and friendly the staff are only to pleased to help you out, unfortunately the weather in our first week was not great, we had a lot of rain and wind, the west side of the island took a huge battering, the east, imho is much the better side of the island, there are less villas and it is a lot calmer, the snorkelling on that side is far better than the west, the villas are amazing and yes well worth The jacuzzi, we used it every afternoon just before going for dinner, it is brilliant. although we stayed in a JBV the JWV are exactly the same just over the water, we loved our villa and loved being on the beach, it was very private and cannot fault it in anyway. Your room is cleaned twice a day.
The food is also very good, with a large choice of meat, fish, veg. and salads, they change the menu each day so you get to taste lots of differant things. the deserts are, well honestly they are truely amazing and soooooo tastey
The bar is quite large, so if you want to be alone in a corner or mingle with new friends both are equally possible
The sand bank is really nice, you can always find sun loungers, none of this getting up at 5am to put your towels out
You have loungers on the decking of your villa too, and as we were in a JBV we had 2 on the sand too.
You can walk round the whole island in around 20 - 30 mins and not see a soul.
The shop is expensive but usefull for the little things you might have forgotten.
There is a small book library in the games room with good choice of books.
The swimming pool is nice, and looks gorgeous at night when it is lit, not many people used it, when you have the ocean right next to you, you can understand why really!!
We didn't go to the al a carte restaurant, mainly because the food was so good in the main restaurant, we didn't see the need.
There is a small football pitch and the staff play each night, they love guests joining them, so if you fancy it don't forget your trainers as its a concrete pitch!
Now for the trips, avoid the robinson crusoe trip, it is not what it is billed to be, they dump you on a tiny island called Madivaru, it has next to no beach, we went with 3 other couples so you're not alone. it is covered in hermit crabs and I MEAN COVERED, and to one side of the island is a rubbish tip!!!!! the locals from rashdoo use it as a picnic island and there are picnic tables scattered around and a rusty old BBQ, when we were there a group of locals turned up. It was not a good experiance. The snorkelling trip was ok but we didn't see anything that we hadn't already seen around the island. Rashdoo is free if you go A/I, so its worth a visit, again its not fantastic and a bit of an eye opener, it is really used to get people into the shops, unforunately most of the stuff is imported tat.We didn't do any other trips so can't comment on them, but we did speak to people that had done them and to be honest the only one that sounded any good was the fishing trip, so I would say not to bother with the trips and stay on the island, it is gorgeous and well worth spending every second you can on there
If you do decide on Veligandu you will not regret it, it is an amazing small island, we loved it and will highly recommend it to you.
Even though the weather in our first week wasn't great, it really didn't matter it was still warm and the island is still beautifull rain or shine, and to be honest, it was so hot in our second week we were beginning to wish it would rain again
You will definately have 2 weeks of rest, relaxation you can do as little or as much as you like, eat and drink as much as you like.
Just one last thing, don't take any shoes the whole island is sand, even the restaurant and bar, we took our shoes off when we got off the sea plane and didn't put them back on till we got back on it to leave. It is a great experience 2 weeks of no shoes, no news.
Hope this helps you make your mind up.
