Just came back from Salou Yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was There for a Week, with my girlfriend and Step Daughter.
Had an absoulutely fantastic time.
Had been a little Worried going out because of the Weather Reports saying it was forcast for Overcast and drizzles but it was boiling hot. First Few nights it could get a little chilly, but on the last nights it was very warm on the nights as well.
Rained about twice on the Night, but we were in the Hotel So didnt bother us.
Stayed at H10 Europa Park and all I can say is, this is the Best Hotel Ive ever stayed at. Towels Changed every day, wherever you left them.
Rooms Clean as a whistle. Had a TV which was mostly Spanish Channels but there was also Sky News on and also the Disney Channel, although in Spanish I think. There was a safe in the Rooms which Cost I think 8 euros plus had to hand over 10 Euros Deposit, which you got back at the end of the week. Food was amazing. Another couple thought the food was poor, but we loved it, as there was selection after selection to choose from and you can eat as much as you like. Desserts were great too. May have been a couple of days where the selection was poor but it was always cooked pefectly and you can not complain, as you not paying any extra if you have gone half board. Food for children could have been a little better if there was burgers, fish fingers etc. (You know how children are, if it doesnt look like McDonalds) so that didnt bother us.
Also there was waiter Service around the Pool area which felt great.
Port Ventura was Awesome, although I thought one day there was enough. Glad I didnt go for a 3 day Pass
AND Scored there as well as we went on open train the day before we went which went round salou and to the park entrance and a couple gave us a buy one get another adult in free / ticket/leaflet (They got from their hotel). And whilst waiting in the Queue the next day at the Park a guy gave us a unused Pass for our daughter, which he didnt need, due to him having bought group tickets and had one spare.
Went to Cambrills for the day, which I personally didnt like. Found it to be too many gift Shops, although the girlfriend liked it.
The Beach on Salou is fantastic.
Finally Nightlife was poor. Main Reason was due to it being early season, most were near empty. Struggled to find ones that suited a child of 8.
Found one Called Jimmy's that seemed busier, catering for English and there kids. In the end just stayed in the Hotel on the Night which was far more Easier and happier for the Kid, as she could be with her new Friends she had met at the Hotel and easier for us, knowing she was safe.
PS - The Water Park place you get 1 day for if you buy a 3 day pass was Shut!!!!!!!!!!!
All in all, Perfect Holiday.
I'm going to Salou in July with my husband, my 15yr old daughter, his 15yr old daughter and our 6 yr old son. We're actually staying in the PortAventura Hotel as we figure it'll keep all the kids amused and apparently it stays open really late in high season ( The girls will be happy anyway).
I went to Salou 10 yrs ago, just me and my daughter then, and it was a very clean, safe resort. Is it still?
Juliet
How have you manages that? I tried to book for there but cos there is 5 of us (2 adults + 3 kids) it was gunna cost a small fortune just for a week!
I seem to remember being quoted about £2500 because of under ocupancy etc....
Well to be honest it wasn't cheap!
We booked in January, very little availability even then for when we wanted (school summer hols). We need 2 rooms as the girls are 15 and so too old to share with us, so they're charged as adults, our 6 yr old will share with them. We couldn't get flights from Gatwick so are flying from Stansted (which means an overnight stay there - more money. Although we're using Tesco clubcard vouchers for that and the airport parking).
We could only get 2 weeks by going either just before the start of the school holidays or by returning after terms starts again. As the girls are entering their GCSE yr in Sept we opted for going just before the end of term and they all miss 4 days of school, which of course they're gutted about!!!!
The total cost for 2 rooms, 5 people, half board was scary!! But as we only take my stepdaughter away every 2 yrs and so next time she'll be 17 and may not want to come with us, we figured it might be our last big family holiday so decided to bite the bullet and go for it!! It had better be worth it!!

What a dilema... !!
Wonder if it's any cheaper to book as early as possible?
Still, bet you enjoy it. We go to Salou on monday, and our main reason for choosing Salou is Port Aventure. SO IT HAD BETTER BE GOOD!!
Enjoy your holiday...
Helen
