You do get hassle in the markets to a cartain extent, however if you go prepared with this in mind then you should be fine. All the shopkeepers are proud of their stock and want to show you everything! It's their living so they are very good at it. My wife wanted handbags and purses this year. Obviously they are all fakes out there, so you have to bear in mind what you want to pay for a fake leather handbag. Essentially what you are paying for is just a leather handbag/purse with a Gucci/Prada label on it. We went on the premis of what you would pay for a good quality leather handhag in the UK, so we were averaging about £10-£15 per item. We always checked the stitching first.
Don't enter into a bartering situation unless you want the item, it's considered bad form. Looking is fine, just smile and say 'no thankyou' nobody was offended when we did this. There are some great bargins to be had at Icmeler market.
As for male hassle, we didn't hear much of it. I suggest your daughter keeps her sunglasses on as much as possible and avoids direct eye contact if she's shy or at all worried. The men are all very charming they even tried to charm my wife! It's all light hearted and part of the Turkish way. I have to say the English girls at the Palm Gardens were taken with one of the barmen. He was obviously the holiday hearthrob for 2006!

many thanks, is a bit of a worry dont want to end up in a punch up haha.
haha I wont tell her about the pin up of 2006 then, think dad will have the dark glasses on watching her with the fellas haha. The markets sound great, looks like i may have to take an extra case to fit it all in cause i do like to shop. lol.
ref the palm gardens ,,,yes they are clean and the pool is ace andin agood location ..but if you dont like britty hotels and getting woken up at 3 or 4 in the morning by noisy drunks in the hotel bar and their kids running around the pool at the same time forget it .We,ve been twice the first year it opened it was ok and it was new the second year it had changed. You were shunned by some of the staff if you didnt eat or drink in the hotel and it got really clique so much so that we actually felt uncomfortable. We wont go again and there were other people who felt the same who also went the first year.Icmeler is great and we wouldnt let anything spoil our holidays there as we too consider it our second home but the palm gardens is not for us .I hope you like it and enjoy your holiday liverbird really i do but this is only my opinion you can make your own
good journeys mick andrea and kids
Thanks for your comments, I wont be to happy if i get woken up at 4 in the morning, but then once my head hits the pillow nothing normally wakes me up. We went to a complex in corfu that was a bit the same, the owners only made an effort if you spent money constanly up the bar or in the restuarant, this year in Zante was very different we did spend quite a bit of money up the bar as we made some really good friends. Oh well if it get's to bad then I wont be worried about complaining.
are they good, how much do they cost?
i would prefer a mountain view, does anyone know if these apartments are away from the bar area?
thanks.
Turkish Breakfasts 5YTL and ok. Olives, bread, boiled egg, jam, honey, salami and cheese.
Full English 3.5 YTL all the usual stuff.
Personally we didn't have breakfast there, we prefered to have breakfast in the Cafe Anne over the road from the Anatolian restaurant. It was better value and better quality.
Most days we got a few croissants and bread from the shop round the corner.

when do u go K&R will u be out there the same time as us ?? we go on the 16th Aug
aarrrrhhhh hun, we just miss you, we fly on the 23 july and come home the 6 aug!
ahh that's a shame, normally we go at the begin of Aug but next year for some reason it worked out cheaper to go later. It would have been nice to meet up, this year I was chating to a girl on the Zante forum and we met up with her and her family and had a fantastic time with them. They are trying to get the same week as us to go to Turkey. You will have to let us know what it's like - keep fingers crossed it's all great
i dont want to do the first choice transfer as it will proberbly take ages, so i shall try and bok a private transfer, any ideas,?
i did email the palm gardens last year but got no reply, does anyone have a correct email for them so i can try again, and how soon do i have to book a transfer?
thanks
karen
We used it because two summers ago it took about 3 and half hours for transfer,by private transfer it is max 1 and half.
Somebody on previous page did it inbound then used first choice going back.
if you leave a p.m. i have the phone number somewhere, but at this time of year dont think they will be about at the complex.
you will enjoy the palm gardens a very good choice
briliant, thanks...........i may well just go with icmeler online if i cant get hold of the boss man.
